Stayed at the Wynne and Encore, thats it really, but they were both very expensive to eat really, so came down market to Mirage and just loved it!

Then book it:) , you said yourself you cant find a flight under £500, but with so many great hotels in Vegas wouldnt it be nice to try somewhere new

but want to go back at Christmas again, been before at that time and know its expensive.

Incorrect. Xmas is cheap.....certainly it is booking direct with hotels. Weve done Xmas past two years......Siggy this year and Venetian last year. Both worked out less than Mirage :eek::eek: which I stayed in in 2007, and.....meh.....its OK but wouldnt rush back there.....especially not at the premium they try to get there. Was before the refurb so maybe the rooms are nicer now.

Starts getting expensive on 30th December.....29th in some hotels.

Not sure anyone could advise, but I have travelled to Vegas 4 times now and obviously love it. I am just back 2 days ago from a 7 night stay, but want to go back at Christmas again, been before at that time and know its expensive. The question is really, the cost always comes out cheaper via expedia, then to book separately as I know most of you do, why is this? We normally stay at the Mirage (I know the resort fee, but it is always comped) and want to again, but the cost for Flight and 7 nights hotel is £1250 for the 2 of us, booked separately is so much more. Should we always book separately and wait for the cheap hotel rooms closer to the time? Cheers

So the hotel comps the resort fee even though you booked through a 3rd party? If so I assume because the 3rd party price doesn't include the resort fee?

Are you looking around for deals for the hotel element, or just going straight to the hotel's website? There are 2 deals that go to the end of the year on smartervegas.com. You know that the price booking direct with the hotel is per room, not per person (sorry if it's a silly question, but it's caught people out before). :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

ferf, I have met you and you are NOT a lardy! I don't know why you give that impression.

Well, I could stand to lose another 40lbs or so...but ultimately I think that for anyone who uses that term and makes such sweeping generalisations, I would probably qualify anyway...so may as well admit to it. :)

Can somebody suggest a hotel suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids (13 &12) October half term, on the strip?
Flights are booked, we are spending 3 nights in New York then flying to Las Vegas for the remainder. New York is fine as we have been twice before but never been to Las Vegas and been thoroughly confused by the comments on trip advisor.

with kids that age if keeping them entertained is important excalibur is ok, not best hotel on strip(do you have budget) but loads for kids to do, got the aquariam at mirage real close, lions over road at mgm, roller coaster at new york accross the road. plus knight jousting thing in excalibur. close to mono rail for access to strip.
jsut my thoughts sure many people will have many others

Thanks for your reply. Can spend in the region of £600-£700 for 4 nights if we have to. All the reviews on trip advisor seem really poor even for the top hotels. We were aiming for a hotel with plenty of pools but now realise that end of October we might be pushing our luck..
  • Personally for your money I would stay at the Palazzo, my personal favorite.
