I'm amazed you've not come across this before -I've come across it at all levels of Vegas hotels. I don't take creditcards to Vegas and find a cash depit works just as well and is usually lower (sometimes I still have room charging facilities-sometimes not )

    Hello all!

I've been to Vegas several times now and just arrived back home yesterday after my most recent trip. We've stayed at Sahara, Luxor, THEhotel and most recently Encore, so have some experience of different types of accommodation.

Just wanted to make people aware of the credit card "hold" for incidentals applied at check-in at Wynn and Encore as we nearly fell foul of this - they swipe a credit card and hold $150 per night for incidentals even though we had pre-paid for the room via Expedia. As we were staying for 5 nights they wanted to "hold" $750!

As I explained to the clerk, I only have a very low credit limit on my credit card they agreed to only hold $300 but we were not allowed to charge anything to the room! Kind of felt like they were holding our money to ransom a little and could have caused big problems if we had no credit card or if we were relying on the credit card for spends.

I would recommend THEhotel @ Mandalay Bay instead - similar price, excellent suites and no credit card needed for incidentals at all (provided you have pre-paid).

    Hope this helps someone!

that HET group buffet offer seems it might be a no-brainer...I'm not sure if it would include the brunches, though? In any event - we were going to try PH for dinner this trip - and we like Paris for breakfast...so may combine the two into one day.

we're here! flights (AA connecting at LAX) were good save for the evil full recliners in front of us (and the full recliners reclined the first second they were allowed to so that's nearly 11 hours - though they did put them forward at meal service - when we asked, since naturally it didn't occur to them to do it on their own). Asked about complimentary upgrade at Paris reception and were told we'd already been upgraded to a view room since my husband is Platinum which (allegedly, though I do not necessarily believe it) is $55 more a night...so I didn't really feel I could try for ANOTHER comp upgrade. room is nice - smaller than Bally's but not as much smaller as I thought it might be...bathrooms are nicer than Bally's - like the separate shower. Comfy bed. Last night won $150 on a Quack Shot so that was nice.

And passed out about 11:30pm with terrible cold. Actually slept until 6am. Miraculous on first night for me!

Hoping to do the lion cub photo today...way too excited about that. :)

If you get this offer please let us know all about it like will it include the Sunday Brunch, if it is valid for 1 place or multiple places in the 24 hours and if it really was $30+tax ;)

Nice win to start off the trip with.

Did your AA flight have seat back video? The last time we did AA from Man it was only the screens on the ceiling every few rows.

I just happened to re-read what I posted, and think the date is actually the wrong way round i.e. in the American format, so 10/05/2010 should be read as 5 October rather than 10 May.

Groupon is a US website, and a deal that I purchased recently for a boat trip in San Francisco stated "Expires 10/24/2010" which would make no sense the other way round. Sorry for any confusion, I should have thought of that before I posted and edited the details. On the plus side though gracie10, maybe you can now buy a Groupon for your anniversary dinner? :j

Hmmmm - give em a good SHOVE as soon as it looks like theyve fallen asleep.

Its the one thing I like about Ryanair - no reclining seats.
