Although I've heard of it working at the Flamingo my last two stays there last year were both double upgrades from Go room to Go room high floor view of the fountains (apparently the catagory between is view but not high floor) unasked for and no tip. Usually I book a Go room but this week it's a deluxe which I'm prepared to pay to upgrade on arrival (deluxe rooms had a great comp/reduced rate Go rooms didn't) I'll try and remember to report back if it worked and for how much

have you done it yourself or know anyone who has?

I would say everyone who posts on here has tried it, it works some places and sometimes and others it doesnt.

have you read page 1 of this thread and followed the links for the $20 trick threads?

Thanks duchy - we'll get there by hook or by crook! They did offer to fly us on Friday, but we thought missing the wedding wasn't really an option :rotfl:

Any other time, I'd bite your hand, arm and legs off for 3 extra nights in Vegas!
Hope it goes well on sat and then your flights work out ok. Dont want you missing the Dodgers:)

Enjoy your break trets. Where in Spain are you off to? We usually have a week in Spain, either Benidorm or the Costa del Sol, at Xmas/New Year and enjoy it in a different way to Vegas.

We visit there (Javea/Xabia) quite often. Try the Jumbo Cod at "Scallops". It is HUGE!

Does this generally work or a bit of a myth??????

Im staying in the Bellagio in about a months time and will probably give it a go, but i think i may need more than $20. More like $50???

Any experiences of this would be very helpful....

Agree with photome - there are links on the first page to various websites dealing specifically with the '$20 trick'.

From those you can find specific experiences for Bellagio:

    http://www.frontdesktip.com/las-vegas/bellagio/

    http://www.thetwentydollartrick.com/Hotels/Bellagio.html

If you haven't booked a lakeview room I'd try to get an upgrade to one...a lakeview is what makes Bellagio worth the price IMHO.

Oh, and did you book directly or through a 3rd party...not sure if it's true or not but have read that it's generally more likely you will get an upgrade if you booked direct.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

that looks like it would've been fun!

Indeed...and my husband, who can deal with heights to some extent but isn't the biggeset fan is now eyeballing me and my multiple efforts to encourge him that we should use the 2-for-1 for Cloud 9 from the LVA coupon book in a couple of weeks. :)

they'll have patched it up by then i reckon... judging by the video, there's only a massive split down the middle that needs sorting...

bit of sticky tape should fix it! :):D
