Does anyone have any ideas about how good they are with weddings there, and are the suites nice? Alternatively the MGM wedding packages looked ok, but not sure about the photos you get as that part of the package seems a bit on the weak side...0

Quick question re: this offer... what would "activity credit" be exactly?

January , FebruaryHi all
First time posting on this thread, so all help much appreciated:) I'm working my way through the posts but am only on page 70 odd at the moment, so if any questions have been answered already sorry for duplicating!
We are intending going out on the 24th April on the direct Virgin flight. I've read all the awful posts on this, but as we are travelling with a 7 and 9 year old the shorter trip outweighs the old/uncomfortable problems cos we just want it over and done with rather than having them knackered before we even start.
Anyway, we're getting married out there and I've been drawn to the Bellagio for the wedding and the wedding night (mum and dad having the kids then;)), staying in the $450 ish a night suite (I forget the name of it).

We're only there for 5 nights in total, then we're moving on to Orlando for a couple of weeks, and I keep going back to the one bedroom suites at the Signature as our lodgings for the rest of the time there. I thought the rooms looked lovely, and it not having a casino seemed like a good plan for the kids (I remember being in Tahoe at Caesars when I was 15 and being escorted off the floor as I'd inadvertently wandered into the gaming area:))
Any comments/thoughts welcome as we've not been before. If I'm way off base with the wedding bit please please let me know!
Thanks:)

Just as an afterthought, I have absolutely no idea what to do for a 'reception' afterwards. It's only going to be for 7 people as a definite, and possibly 2/3 friends if they can get out. I keep seeing Alize and Magiannos mentioned; are these as good as any?
I'd recommend The Signature. I'd also recommend The Fontana Bar at The Bellagio for the after wedding party/reception. My sister had it recommended to her by 3 people and we had a great night there. The view of the fountains from outside is amazing too.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090 -

I remembered reading about an activity credit for the MGM Prima membership and at least there it's defined as:
The $50 activity credit is a onetime credit that is valid towards dining, entertainment, spa or salon services. Not valid at Wolfgang Puck, Rainforest Cafe, Emeril's, Starbucks, and Stage Deli. Entertainment portion of activity credit valid for KÀ by Cirque du Soleil and MGM Grand's Crazy Horse Paris. A 20% service fee will be added to all spa services. Activity credit available only if charged to your hotel room and will be credited upon checkout.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

IMO Bellagio is worth the money if you have a lakeview room - otherwise I personally think Wynn and Encore are better in all ways except location. I've not stayed at Signature before. Some might also throw Venetian/Palazzo onto your list.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I have. It was just like you'd expect a large German drinking hall to be like. We had a private buffet out the back area so I can't comment on the table food but I'm sure it's all the same stuff... sausage, pork, potato, cabbage, more pork...
I'd recommend it for the Oktoberfest style drinkathon atmosphere and the musicians were absolutely first class. They kept the place rocking all night long! The serving maids in Bavarian costume brought the drinks to the table on wooden boards which were inevitably used for spanking intoxicated patrons, much to the drunken amusement of friends and everyone else.
I think you're getting the idea now.
All night long?! Me and my friend walked (bad idea) there all the way from the Strat and it was closed at 2300!!0 -
SeptemberJust a thought, with all you guys and girls posting deals up, might be an idea to add to the deceptive headline price the cost of the resort fee as well instead of just cutting and pasting what the hotel wants you to see, might stop some on here getting overly excited when they see a nightly rate of $55 actually being $80 inc. tax.
Just my tuppence. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
October , NovemberVikki_74 we have stopped in Oct and they didnt have all the pools open think there was 2 but there was plenty of room and the lazy river was running on a Fri and a Sat rather than every day if I remember right.
Thanks Cand - I've been doing a bit of Googling since I posted and that's what I came up with as well - if it's right I'm a bit gutted as we will only be there in the week and I really fancied having a bit of a float round the river on one of those big tube thingiesThe MGM website is quite vague about it - they just say at least one of the pools will be open from Feb to Nov & that the 'Backlot River' closes completely at the end of October until March, with no mention of it only being open at weekends for part of the year.
