Thanks Cand - I've been doing a bit of Googling since I posted and that's what I came up with as well - if it's right I'm a bit gutted as we will only be there in the week and I really fancied having a bit of a float round the river on one of those big tube thingies :( The MGM website is quite vague about it - they just say at least one of the pools will be open from Feb to Nov & that the 'Backlot River' closes completely at the end of October until March, with no mention of it only being open at weekends for part of the year.
I was gutted the first time we went as it was only open on the weekend and the day we said we would stay by the pool was freezing (would be wouldnt it) so I never got to try it out but i have been lucky enough to have had chance since. :)

    Hi guys,

I have some lovely news that I am now able to share (all family members now told!) me and my OH got engaged in February this year and we have nearly finished planning our wedding in wonderful Las Vegas!!

(I know I will be in great company – trets, stoneman, westhamdaz, sarahlasvegas, lisaloo among others! - Mooky – I know you got engaged over there but are you getting wed over there too or just honeymooning?)

I thought some of this info may help others maybe considering getting wed over there and wondered if anyone on here had any tips to share with me?

We fly out Wed 30 June till Wed 14 July (MAN – LAS with Delta with stop @ Atlanta - £850)

Wedding is booked for Saturday 3rd July @ 12.30 (PDT) at the Wynn, Las Vegas!

The Wynn is my favourite hotel over there AND the ceremony is only $500!!
They do not advertise this ceremony on their website – I think the cheapest they market is approx $1,600 BUT there is a little “*” which says, ceremonies staring at $500 subject to availability – contact for further info. Given that our wedding date is over the Independence weekend availability must be quite good!

Granted, you don’t get much for $500 (and we have paid for extras making the TOTAL cost with everything DVD, Photos, Flowers, Unity Ceremony, Live Internet Broadcast, Music, Champagne for guests approx $1,100 – but these are all optional extras and very decadent) but, for anyone currently researching venues – bear this in mind. Hope this helps someone out there!

We were considering Little Chapel of the Flowers (which is also lovely btw), but by the time we added on flowers, photos, dvd and other extras there, that would have cost us about the same as the Wynn has ended up being and, for us, the fact that we could afford to be married at the Wynn is the best news ever.

We are staying at The Orleans for 14 nights with 2 nights at The Encore and are holding our “reception” at Maggiannos – the Italian restaurant in the Fashion Show Mall.

I have been bursting to share this, but couldn’t risk mentioning it till family told – anyone currently researching wedding stuff PM me if you want more info on the “Holiday Ceremony” at the Wynn.

Hope I haven’t bored you all with my wedding talk!

    Steff ;)

Thanks nvh, Salone suite rings a bell so it's good to know it's a nice one:)

Also just remembered the Wynn/Encore - anyone know how they compare to Bellagio or Signature?

All the above, plus Venetian/Palazzo are excellent hotels, even for the lowest rung of room. That IMHO is the difference to the rest, ie Caesars bottom room is awful.

Probably down to individual preference, eg location Bellagio the best, price Signature the best, onsite shopping Venetian the best.....although all these are getoverable eg taxis from Encore, shopping at the FSM.
