Thanks to all who have replied to my queries, it is much appreciated.

I'm a little apprehensive, after reading your comments, about staying Downtown but in the end, cost won and we decided to take a gamble on it. If it is so awful that we don't like it, at least we only have to stick it out for two nights and will know better for next time. Hopefully, the next time we go, it won't be such an impulsive decision and we will have planned for it properly, so that cost won't be such an issue and we will be able to stay at better hotels.

    I have booked:

    Flights - £728
    4 nights @ Imperial Palace - £64
    2 nights (weekend) @ Fitzgeralds - £49
    4 nights @ MGM Grand - £206

I think the total price of £1047 for two people, for ten nights, isn't too bad, is it? :)

    you will love it
2 nights downtown would be fab, i am thinkin of this for next time, cheap drinks low limmit tables and nice live bands

10 nights for £1047 for two people is a fantastic price and $22.50/night for the IP is excellent. Not the best of hotels, but nothing wrong with it either. We've stayed there 7 or 8 times.

The last couple of times we stayed there we asked for a room on the 2nd floor facing the pool. These don't have a balcony as the patio door takes you straight onto the pool deck. No need to use the elevators as it's only one flight of stairs up from the casino floor.

I can recommend eating at Binion's Steakhouse when you are staying Downtown. We had a great meal there and it was only around $70 for both of us. That was a couple of years ago.

The MGM will seem like luxury after the other two and you have done the hotels in the right order.

Or try the steak special at the Four Queens $9.99 (or $7.99 if you join their players club) includes starter and salad....prime rib or grilled steak.

Second vote for Binion's steakhouse . The Casino can deter you finding it , but press on and you will be rewarded by a superb view of the Vegas Skyline and a great steak .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Heading back to Vegas this year and wanting to see the grand canyon this time.

We were weighing up the helicopter / plane tours but they're well out of our price range so it's looking like a coach tour instead.

Can any one recommend a decent one please? A google search brings up ones like:

    https://www.lasvegasgrandcanyontour.com
    http://www.looktours.com/bus1.html

    etc

I have no idea which one is best though. Wanting to go to the south rim, and the opportunity to grab a picture at hoover dam would be good.

The only thing we're concerned about is that the air-con is good. I don't fancy being on a complete sweat box for the best part of 11 hours in the middle of july!!

    Thanks all.

For the Grand Canyon, I'd recommend http://www.grand-adventures.com/, its an excellent tour, a smaller group of 10 or less, with time to walk and breakfast and lunch too.

AC on buses will be fine.

If theres a few of you, why not hire a car for the day and drive.....thirty bucks plus a tank of petrol and ten bucks for satnav rental.
