TMD, I'm always fascinated at how people have more than one Ebay ID. Do you need to have seperate bank accounts. Just how do you do it? *inserts no-longer existing confused smiley*. And while I'm being nosy, is a business account worth it, and how many sales would you need to make it so?

    Thanks for the info! ;):D

You only need a business account if you are buying things to sell on, if you are just selling your own unwanted stuff then you don't need a business account. If you are running a business, however small then obviously HMRC needs to know as well.

I'm going to have to really have a good rummage today and get some stuff listed, my youngest son had a bad car accident last night and it looks like our brand new car is going to be written off. Luckily my son is unhurt, apart from bruising but looking at prices I don't think we can get enough back to replace it. We bought the car last year brand new at just over £6k and the same model now is over 8k...arghh.

The other party has admitted full liability, even to the police who turned up, but I loved that car.

I am glad your son is OK, sorry about the car though, at least the other person has admitted liability.

I need to have a sort out of my stuff too and get some listed, must do some books and try and get rid of some I've been a bit slack on getting them done but I only have til tomorrow to do them so worth a try at making a bit of money and then at least they will be ready to relist on the next free listing day.

You need to have a different e-mail address for each ID, in Paypal you just add all the e-mail addresses for payment and they go into one account. I wish I could have two Paypal accounts one for Business and one for Personal so I know how much I'm making.

You only need a business account if you buy stuff to sell, it doesn't cost anything, I am registered as Self Employed with HMRC and have to do a Tax Return every year.

All I do is log into each account to keep track of what is going on, I check for any messages etc, not bad really.

My Business account is doing quite well at the moment so am glad about that, hopefully now it's nearly payday things will pick up a bit.

  • OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have just had my MBNA (A&L) credit card statement, I have £7,537.04 outstanding, I paid off last month £1,220, the estimated interest on last months statement was £92, the interest this month after paying off what I have is £96.22 (how??????), the estimated interest for next month is £116.70:eek:.

I am going to sell everything that isn't nailed down on Ebay. Best get cracking and tidy up and find some more stuff to sell.

I am in shock, back later after a strong cup of tea with 50 sugars in it.

  • I posted my first ever sale on ebay last friday and the buyer hasn't got it yet. I am assuming this as she hasn't left feedback yet, she has left feedback for all her other purchases even ones bought after mine. She payed quickly and sent a nice email when I thanked her. If she sends me an email saying its not arrived do I just refund her money through paypal & then start a claim with Royal Mail?
Do I inform ebay or paypal? It was £68. Also how long do Royal Mail take to settle or will I have a fight on my hands. Any advice appreciated.

Glad your son wasn't hurt soolin!

TMD I had a similar shock this week and have started ebaying like a mad woman. need to stop telling myself its too much hassle and i'll do it another time!! need to do it now!! so far i've listed 13 items today.

    Happy listing all
  • Hi Purpleroses

Well done on the listings. I am about to go and tidy up everywhere and see what I can find, definitely going to be ebaying later when OH gets in from work. Have some clothes to get listed but they need ironing and I NEVER iron but will be later on.

I'm just working out what I owe on each card (7 in total) and am just working out what the interest is on each one this month.

  • Oh dear, total debt now £27,742.43 - total interest paid this month on 7 credit cards £268.90.

I did buy some Ebay stock which is selling quite well so can make some bigger payments, am not going to be buying biscuits or chocolate anymore (that will be hard), I have to pay £33 for the girls Ballet on Monday plus the leotards and wraps and then that is all I'm buying.

I have an Endowment that used to be linked to a mortgage, it is linked to our mortgage at the moment but in June when the fixed rate runs out OH is going to change the mortgage to Repayment only, so am thinking of ringing up or writing to find out what I'll get back if I cash it in, I took it out in 1996 so have paid 13 years of £57.04, so about £8,800, I know it's not on track to pay the £31,350 that it was originally meant to and not worth paying another 13 years of £57.04 when I could pay my debts off with that money and then when I'm debt free start saving for my retirement (am 41 next month so need to think about things like that). Even if I only get £5k back at least that will be better than the way things are going at the moment, the interest is frightening.j

Will go to the Mortgage and Endowment Board later and ask there for any advice.

    Hi

I would wait to see if she contacts you about it, and if she does and says it's not arrived I would ask her to check with her local Sorting Office first to check that they are not holding it there as sometimes they don't leave a card, if not, then you can refund and get a claim form from Royal Mail but think they only pay out up to £39 (not 100% sure). Did you send it Recorded? I always post things over £15 Recorded Delivery.
