I posted my first ever sale on ebay last friday and the buyer hasn't got it yet. I am assuming this as she hasn't left feedback yet, she has left feedback for all her other purchases even ones bought after mine. She payed quickly and sent a nice email when I thanked her. If she sends me an email saying its not arrived do I just refund her money through paypal & then start a claim with Royal Mail?
Do I inform ebay or paypal? It was £68. Also how long do Royal Mail take to settle or will I have a fight on my hands. Any advice appreciated.

Try not to worry yet - some people dont leave feedback straight away - depends what you sold eg if you sold a DVD or something electronic they might want to watch it/test it first before leaving feedback. If you dont recieve feedback from her in the next few days just send her a message saying hope she received the item and that everythings ok.

If you posted it as a standard parcel I definitely wouldnt worry - they can take a little longer. Try not to worry too much, i was probably the same when I first started, but have been selling for 1 1/2 years now and never had anything go missing in the post *touch wood*

  • Standard Parcels does take a bit longer, maybe they were out when it was delivered and have had to collect it from the Sorting Office, which if they work they would probably have done this morning. Don't worry, they will soon contact you if it doesn't turn up. I don't worry about feedback, I've had lots of people who have not left feedback for things I've sold.

Standard parcel quotes around 3 -5 days so it is barely even late yet.

I'd not worry at all unless you get an email from the buyer, even then I would expect a buyer to wait at least into the 2nd full week before I made any refund.

  • Im getting frustrated here.

I have had to open my 4th unpaid claim in a week:mad:, two of these were bidders who only had 1 feeback, and one had 30 pos feedback, but when I went to close the case they were no longer registered:mad:. The new case again is a bidder who has had 4 pos feedback.

I dont want to start blocking low feedback bidders as I have had people with no feedback who have paid straight away, but was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this problem?

Well done everyone you're doing really well. Am off on hols next week so no more ebaying for me till my return. I am spending this week sorting out the house though, so I've got some things to list once I get back, and hopefully February will be a good month ebay-wise.

Jaynemaria, poor you! Luckily in all my time as ebay seller I have only had a handful of non-payers, none recently. How long do you give them to pay/what methods? I tend to give them three days to pay me, then if 5 days have passed and no contact or payment i contact them reminding them to pay, and saying if i dont get payment or hear from them by such a date i will have no other option but to open unpaid dispute.I have never blocked buyers with low feedback and would try to avoid it if possible. Maybe its just that time of the month, just before payday and everyones waiting to get paid to pay you?

  • Thanks Mavvysmum, I always re send the invoice on day 3, 5,6 and if nothing by day 7 I then open the non paying claim, but I always email them first explaining, If someone has changed their mind, fine but I just wish they had the decency to letr me know

Oh dear, total debt now £27,742.43 - total interest paid this month on 7 credit cards £268.90.

I did buy some Ebay stock which is selling quite well so can make some bigger payments, am not going to be buying biscuits or chocolate anymore (that will be hard), I have to pay £33 for the girls Ballet on Monday plus the leotards and wraps and then that is all I'm buying.

I have an Endowment that used to be linked to a mortgage, it is linked to our mortgage at the moment but in June when the fixed rate runs out OH is going to change the mortgage to Repayment only, so am thinking of ringing up or writing to find out what I'll get back if I cash it in, I took it out in 1996 so have paid 13 years of £57.04, so about £8,800, I know it's not on track to pay the £31,350 that it was originally meant to and not worth paying another 13 years of £57.04 when I could pay my debts off with that money and then when I'm debt free start saving for my retirement (am 41 next month so need to think about things like that). Even if I only get £5k back at least that will be better than the way things are going at the moment, the interest is frightening.j

Will go to the Mortgage and Endowment Board later and ask there for any advice.

tmd, it appears we are living similar lives :rotfl: I have very little time to get rid of the £30k but the more it goes up, the less energy I have to deal with it. Must get back to match betting as easier money but must get rid of everything on eBay.

I also need to buy a bunkbed as DS3 does not like his cot and I can't give him the toddler bed until I have a bed for DS2. Have seen a lovely one in Next at £450

Having done loads of listing, TB crashed and died. Need to recover the backup but haven't got the energy at the moment. Might have a catnap and then deal with it.

Hope sales pick up for everyone next week;think it is pay day for lots of people.

P.S. Anybody else had trouble signing onto MSE? It took me 6 attempts.
