Thanks ladies, but knowing what it is and where he works, means that he will. What a waste of 30 years but have to look at what I can do to get rid of our debt asap.

Sorry to hear that Floxxie - keep your fingers crossed, they might sort it out. Most places will hear you out and give you warnings before kicking you out so he might be ok

I've been good this evening and done 12 complete listings. I've got two bids on my current two most expensive items too which is good

  • Sorry to hear your news Floxxie, will keep my fingers crossed.

I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight, using Turbo Lister(thanks whoever it was who told me about the tutorial) I have listed 35 DVD's!!! I did only have to change the description and pictures but am still pleased with myself. Took me over 3 hours though!!! Did have 2 phone calls in that time and was learning as I went. Put them on BIN so will try tom night to list some auctions.
Hopefully some will sell during January to up my total. Are BIN listings under £4.99 40p? I only got charged 20p. ???

  • Floxxie, my OH lost his job last May, was given one weeks notice over the phone on our way back from holiday! At the time I thought it was all my nightmares come true.....but we survived amazingly ok on a much reduced income and are still managing (he's trying his hand with a bit of self employed work at the moment) What i mean to say is, things may turn out a lot better than you imagine.

  • Another question please, if you wanted to buy something that had a Best Offer how much off would you say was acceptable ie. £2, £3? I put a Best Offer in one something a while ago which was £1.50 less than the asking price which I thought was a good offer and they came back with a Counter offer of 50p less than their BIN price, now I find that silly, why not just put it up for that price.

Depends on the product, but for ex. i had several DVD box sets on for £10 or best offer. Got a few offers of £5/£6 and sent a counter offer for £8. I'd say £2-£2.50 off the BIN price is reasonable for things like that, though you have to consider of course that you cant charge postage for DVD's so you have to take that into consideration. Sellers who do counter offers of 50p under the BIN price are just trying their luck, hoping you cave in and just buy it!

i have stuff on bin but its not selling.. .does that mean i have over priced? why do people watch bin's? whats the point in that?

    QUOTE]

I've always wondered this. When I've noticed someone watching one of my BIN items I've added a best offer option - if they're interested they'll make an offer - otherwise I guess they might be wannabe sellers wanting to know if the product sells.

I often try a cheeky offer first so test the water on BINs if I am buying. Then I would up my offer if it wasn't accepted so don't think of it as an insult, its just someone else trying to money save. If someone sends me 50p less than the actual price I might just up mine 50p to give them a taste of their own medicine :)

  • I'm sorry to hear your news Floxxie.

All my items that ended yesterday were all paid for pretty much straightaway so I took a big bag down to the post office today. I only have two things on at the moment but I'll get some more done this weekend. Didn't expect them to sell at all but I have a bid on one with 7 days to go. Withdrew another £50 from paypal so that's £200 this month - hurrah!
