  • Hi Savingholmes! Regarding your items, if you go to ebay, click "advanced search", type in one of your items and tick the "completed listings" box it'll give you an idea of how much your items may sell for. For postage, I weigh my items on the kitchen scales and use this leaflet from Royal Mail to work out prices - ftp://ftp.royalmail.com/Downloads/public/ctf/rm/2009-2010-Pricesdocumentforpublication.pdf

I think you have to have a rating of 5 postitive feedback before you can sell on ebay but someone else can clarify this for you. I'd suggest finding a couple of low value items around the house that you're not too bothered about and try to sell these first so that if you make a mistake you're not risking your higher value items like you listed in your post.

    Good luck!

skintbint it usually runs midnight to midnight. I was saying on another thread I remember this happened before and the site crashed by 4pm!!
  • just done 17 new listings and taken some phots ready for tomorrow.

Oh has brought down his vinyl single collection and we have quite a few that have been going for £5-£7 with loads of bids so heres hoping.

goos luck for the weekend everyone
  • Took DD1 to a party, came back and have sold 2 more Business items, it's the item that I didn't think I would sell many of, so that is 6 of them I've sold in two days.

Am going to wait until the kids are in bed tonight to sort out my boxes and find the stuff I want to list tomorrow, such a pain having to do it the long way, maybe they will do that every time they have a free listing day.

  • Hi Can I join please ? I have read the whole thread and been inspired. I only started selling last week and have made £100 I am well pleased. I have another load of stuff on and more to list. I am finding it really hard work I think because I need to get a system going. I have said that I will despatch in 1 day but as I work full time this might be a struggle. If I change this to 2-3 days will this put buyers off ? I am going to change my returns policy to accept returns and accept international buyers and hope this gives me a wider audience. What do you all think any advice?

I am really struggling to know where to start with ebay

I do have some barely worn brown 3inch heel ladies size 8 boots - cost me about £50

I also have some barely worn reebok trainers probably cost me about £20

I have a girls pampolina coat in red that new would have been about £100 (I was given it secondhand)

plus probably loads of other things!

but I have no idea how much to charge postage or anything else. Also I would be new to ebay and therefore have no track record - would I be better trying to sell on my OH's account as at least he has buyers feedback?

Kitchen/bathroom scales for weighing - add a bit on for packaging weight and then input the figure into http://sg.royalmail.com/portal/rm/PriceFinder?catId=23500532&gear=pricingcalc

If you have no feedback yet, then I would start on low cost items and perhaps buy a couple of bits as well. Alternatively you could use OH's acount.

    Good luck!

Of course you can join - welcome. I agree, I find it very difficult to get any kind of system going!

Re despatch time - I think you are better putting it 2-3 days to help yourself out. I haven't put that I shall accept returns so as not to encourage but it is highly likely that I would have to accept returns if the buyer requested it anyway. Agree you'll get a wider audience if you accept international buyers - try and put on the postage for America and Europe in advance so you don't have issues with people thinking it is at the UK rate, if possible.

Well done on your sale and good luck on your eBay challenge.

So it wasn't you who won the Euro Millions lottery then? :rotfl:

I've been trying to sort out stuff all day but children have stopped me from doing anything today. I haven't done any photos, is that going to be a problem with the live listing or can I add them later?

Hoping I get the time and energy later to prepare some listings...
