Quick question though. On my paypal account one payment is 'pending' and on the paypal email says it will be released in 21 days. Why is this? Could it be because I havent used it in a while?

Could it be an e-cheque although 21 days does seem a very long time! I have had payments pending before and they have taken ages to come though - very frustrating!!

    Hi

It could be that they are holding the money until the buyer leaves feedback, sometimes I get a message coming up saying the payment may be held but it's not happened to me yet.

The 21 day hold applies to new or small sellers in certain categories. As per paypal the funds will be released once buyer leaves positive feedback or after 21 days.

    Hi

My only problem would be having to re-do all your personal listings again onto your OH account, depends how many you have really. I went back to Self Employed again this week and am so glad I did, I have really missed buying stuff to resell.

All you have to do to change it is to go to your Personal details and change from Private to Business, that is all you have to do. You are supposed to have your Business address and telephone number on your listings (lots of Business sellers don't though), some have it on their About Me page. I have to put my address on there. You have to offer a Returns service if people change their mind, have a look at other Business sellers and see what they are doing regarding their returns policy.

It sounds more scary than it is. I am contemplating whether to get an Ebay shop again or not, can't decide if it's worth £14.99 a month on top of fees although would only be 20p for BIN's instead of 40p, might hold off for a while.

I've done some searching around to see what sort of clothing and other stuff is selling at the moment so have a few ideas to think about.

Also, this time round the guy I spoke to at HMRC said about the half day course for newly Self-Employed people and I didn't get offered it first time round so he is sending me details of it so will have to get OH to take a days holiday so I can go.

thanks TMD... is there somewhere i can read about having a buisness account? also i read on the discussion boards you can transfer listings from one account ot the other so i would only have a few auctions and mainly bins. are the fees better on a bus account?
