My first lot of items ended tonight (apart from the BIN's obv) which is very exciting!

How quickly do people normally receive payment from their sellers? Do people use that "request immediate checkout" option?

Also, I have been posting my low value items 2nd class post and everything else goes 1st class. Do buyers usually prefer 2nd class cos it's cheaper or 1st class cos it's quicker?

I don't think there is an option for "request immediate checkout", if you are thinking of immediate payment required then that applies only to BIN auctions where the sale is not complete until buyer pays.

I usually wait around 4 or 5 days and if I haven't had payment I would send a 2nd invoice with a little note saying im sending it in case the 1st invoice didn't arrive and asking them to contact me if they require further info about payment. Then I'd consider starting an nPB on day 7 or 8 and close it 4 days later. It all depends on the general feedback though, someone with lots of feedback I'd probably give a bit longer and assume they have not been at their PC or something.

Can I please just urge people to watch their sale prices, I was buying on ebay yesterday and came across lots of sales where seller would have been making a loss, and I can only think they forget to calculate all fees including paypal.

just a quickie, My son is selling off his crystal and mineral collection, and he has one specimen that he wants to sell, that is about 2kg! I was thinking of using a courier as delivery rather than royal mail, but how do you go about using one?

Do you just google courier and then type in weight and size etc, and do they collect from home?

If you go to the royal mail website, you can see parcel force on there and put in weight etc. It tells you how much it costs and how much comp you will get if its lost. HTH x

Lots of items ending today, current total is £60.59 :j Day off today, so going to try to find more stuff, whilst looking after my poorly DS :( xxx

Hi, still waiting for payment for the item that has sold - I have now had a message saying they want me to complete an address verification (paying 99p). Has anyone had this before? The only problem is that I have only 94p in my paypal and no available funds in the bank (until I complete the sale) - I have sent a message back explaining this.

I did think the buyer should have asked this before the sale ended and then I could have explained the situation and perhaps sold it to someone else. Rather frustrating to be honest (I do have the cash to post the item).

Oh well, at least I am saving petrol because of the snow!

I sell books around the 2-3kg weight and use standard parcels which is covere dup to £39 of loss. 2kg is £4.41 and up to 4kg is £7.06 via Royal mail post offices.

    Sorry can you clarify?

Who wants 99p to confirm your address? If this is the normal paypal verification then they pay the amounts into your bank account and you just tell them how much was sent, so it doesn't cost you anything. I opened a new micro account last week and it took about 2 days for the payments to show. I can see no circumstances at all in which buyer would be asking this?

    Hi jaynemaria,

There is a thread on the eBay forum about using different couriers depending on where you are sending an item to and how much it is worth. I use parcel2go (if you check their website and put in some dimensions and weight of the item it will give you a price which you can then compare to Royal Mail).

Cashback is also available for using the above company for the first time through sites such as Quidco and Topcashback. If you find another courier you check if there is cash back through https://www.cashbackguide.org

As always, whether you are using RM or a courier check the excluded items as if they get lost or damaged you won't get compensation.

And yes you decide what day and time period you want the item colleting from and they come to your house and collect.

    HTH.

I've had a couple of people not receive eBay notification that they have won an item and have been really apologetic when I have sent them a reminder invoice. I was a bit unsure of their story until it happened to me - the email wasn't even in the spam box, so I guess it got lost somewhere but not sure where

Had a very long night with DS3 so we have both just emerged from bed - bliss. I actually feel semi-human again.

Must go and check on the weather and see how all you southerners are getting on. The sun is out here so the little snow we do have is thawring nicely.

Hi Soolin, it is an address verification item apparently - I have to say it is the first time I have heard of it.

What the buyer said was: "before I can send payment I need to have your address matched against the one you have registered on eBay to ensure you're a genuine seller. Please enter in the search box 120512101219 in order to check out for a 99p item that will be fully refunded back to you."

I have explained that it is not possible. I have to say I'm rather annoyed he didn't ask the question BEFORE bidding! GRRR.

If he does not go ahead, does anyone know how I relist without having to pay the fees twice?

Again, on the plus side I have listed another two items.
