Damn, something that I sold the other day & hadn't been paid for yet, I was really hoping the buyer wouldn't pay, as it's something that I would rather keep but know that I have to get rid of stuff. I'm quite carp at this really, I list things & cross everything that certain things don't sell. Anyway I digress, it has now been paid for.
Definitely off to dig some more. I've got stuff on Freecycle so keep coming in to check my emails hoping that people will want it soonish.

I got a neutral on my private account :(

Item to The Netherlands was lost in the post so I refunded and he left a neutral saying I was a good buyer but he had to get a refund.

It was a CD and he buys a lot and looks like a number haven't arrived (only a tiny percentage of the amount he buys though) and he always leave a neutral or a neg when that happens. I've already blocked Italy, I'm tempted to block the Netherlands as well now.

If you refund surely you should then get a pos. It would really bug me, I'm hoping that the people I refunded yesterday if they leave feedback don't do a neg or neutral. I did ask them not to mention a refund if they choose to leave feedback as I don't want people pulling a fast one. A friend of mine ended up having to open another account as a buyer left feedback saying that item had got lost & seller refunded, she then had loads of lost in the posts.

    hi everyone,
this may seem like a daft question, but do you really make money and is it worth while selling on ebay in terms of set up hassle and getting the stuff posted?
I have a few debts and am looking at ways of getting additional income. I don't have a huge amount of stuff to sell, a few clothes and accessories and some make up, when i look at how cheap some stuff goes for i wonder should i just take it to the charity shop or do you take the view that if you only get a £1 it all adds up. hope i can get the benefit of your experience
trying hard to be debt free by the end of 2010

On my private account I am careful what I list I certainly don't list all the stuff I want to get rid of. I look at the item, I check completed listings on ebay and work out the minimum amount i can sell it for to make a profit, and go from there. If it shows as selling badly or for so small an amount that it isn't worth it, then i charity shop the stuff instead.

However, for a simple item I would be happy with £1 profit, 50 of those every month would be £50 more than I would have had otherwise. If th eitme is large or difficult to pack I probably wouldn't bother selling it for just a pound profit.

It was 3 weeks, the odd thing was he was polite, not confrontational like some buyers are when they think their stuff is lost. I refunded him a day after he told me his item was lost and he needed a refund, basically that was the next time i logged in. He never acknowledged the refund and waited a week to leave me a neutral.

I don't lose a lot of stuff, very little in fact but in the past I've never ever had a non positive left after a refund.

I'm a bit tired of it all really, I got a neutral on my Amazon account as well with the comments that it was a really good transaction , goodness knows what he wanted then to rate me a positive. I've emailed him asking him to reconsider as a neutral on Amazon really hurts as so little feedback is ever left. I've not heard anything back though.

If you have a look at completed listings you'll get an idea of what things are going for. Sometimes the clothes are better in bundles, I prefer to buy bundles as I get really cheesed off at some of the p&p prices. But take into account the postage price limits now in place. I think clothes are £4, in order to make a bundle pay you would have to add the extra to the start price. Or list in the wholesale section. You can courier stuff for around £8 for up to 30kg. That's a heck of a lot of clothes.
If you've got a car though, car boot season has just started.
  • soolin - sorry to hear about your feedback. I got a 4 from someone on amazon with the comment - 'transaction very good, I just have to make time to listen to the cd'. Is that my fault?

    Hope things improve soon.

Oh dear it sounds that we are all on a downer :(

I refunded my buyer who claimed the 'new' items were opened etc. She then sends me an email saying that she will be sending the goods back and expects me to pay postage. I have emailed her back assking not to post the items back...because I won't be paying her postage...just waiting for my neg now :rotfl:

Have several items finishing later - up to £25 which will do..
