Since the millennium we've had a family brunch on New Year's day - sausage, bacon, eggs, fried bread, beans, mushrooms etc etc
This year DH brought home a stomach bug...so it's no visitors and dry biscuits all round

PS DH says they only ate steak pies at Burns Suppers, certainly not at New Year & he's a wee laddie fra the Borders!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • No special meal, just fish and chips with curry sauce..mmmmmm

  • Happy New Year!

We just have a christmas dinner again today!

Mum and dad are coming at 1pm for dinner. We wanted turkey (yes, again) as we like it, but I couldn't get a turkey crown for love nor money, so we're having 2 cornfed chickens instead. Parents are making the broth and trifle. We're also having Christmas pudding.

My trifle was gorgeous last week. I hope mum's is as good. ;)

leftovers from the night before... a bit boxing day syndrome lol. then soup and hm bread if the leftovers arent enough for 2 meals. yum! we get invited to the inlaws normally for a big roast, but we know we'll be a little hungover, and they don't take into account I'm veggie (and roasted veg, yorkshires, gravy etc with meat juice and fat etc isn't veggie friendly lol) so stay in instead.

We certainly used to, not as elaborate as Christmas Dinner but more to it than a Sunday roast, but over the years our friend's teenagers who used to be happy to babysit for the dosh have become old enough to go to the pub themselves and we end up hosting a NY party instead, so on the day we dion't fsncy much more to eat and there's a pile of clearing up to do.

We are having a Sushi night with friend. Put all the makings on the table and we take turns on rolling our own:D. Fun evening and quite light.

Well mine is all in the oven cooking away, the meat smells lovely. We've decide to forgo the starter as we usually end up too full and have to miss out the dessert, so this time we're having main + dessert + bits.

Happy New Year all. Hope your day goes well.
