Nope no special meal here! just can't face the idea of more 'special' food. Think I might put a stew in the sc and take the dog for a walk on the beach (30mins drive away!).

Nope, this is the frst year I haven't worked on NYD so it's a bit of a novelty anyway! I had some leftover stew tonight and have been invited to my dad's tomorrow for a roast. He's doing beef and all the trimmings, yummy! :D

  • We are having steak in cream and mushroom sauce. Steak pie sounds nice though, I might try that next year.
  • We'll be having xmas dinner take 2 - my hubby thinks its a bit weird and complete nonsense but its something we did when we were little. Think it probably stems from keeping both sets of Grandparents happy when we were younger but its a tradition i want to keep.

When I lived at home in Edinburgh, it always had to be roast beef, it was only when I moved to the Highlands that I heard of so many people having steak pie.

My OH says it always had to be steak pie in his family.

We're having roast beef tomorrow. I won. ;):D

The whole family usually heads to my nans on New Years Day for a roast. We have to have about 4 sittings due to the ever expanding family but it's nice to see everyone all together - not so nice when you've got a hangover & the place is full of screaming kids mind!

We're having the full christmas dinner, Turkey, veg, stuffing, roasties and then chocolate cake and trifle. All cooked and made by me of course, but I get the satisfaction of having all my family around me for one day of the year. Plus its a New Year thing ! you have to make sure the house is tidy, the washing done, plenty of food in and money in your purse. Happy New Year everyone.

Were also having Steak pie, mash tatties and brussells. We have a pork leg in the fridge Ill roast that too so if anyone else fancies that they can have it.
I usually make my own steak pie with really good quality sausages in it, but out road is still covered in snow and ice, so the local farm butchers was easier to get to.
