We're having roast beef as it's a bit of a luxury.

  • Wew always had HM Steak & Sausage pie (made by my dad) with lots of tatties & veg. Unfortunately since both my parents have now passed, and my brothers both have their own families, this tradition has fallen out of practice in my family. SO ... this year I've decided to have a steak pie dinner on my own tomorrow (bought from Waitrose this year but will be HM in future years).
    Really looking forward to it.

Well I've never heard of steak pie being the Scottish thing for New Year and I'm here in the frozen North!

  • We used to do steak pie too, thats what my gran and mum always did and loads of people we know still do that, maybe its a central scotland thing?.We got a bit fed up with it though so for the last few years we just have a really nice dinner, this year MIL is doing venison wellington, this is the first year she has not made her steak and sausage pie for new years day dinner.
I have absolutely no idea why steak pie is the thing and I didnt realise so many people did the same meal for new years.
