I know I could move out and rent in theory but I know would never get out of debt and that really bothers me and more importantly- see hilighted bit.....Buffythedebtslayer wrote: »I hate writing this stuff cos I know the answer is move out, but I cannot afford it till I am out of debt. And besides the main reason I stay is because I don't want her to be alone and I do want to look after her. I love my Mum, she is pretty much my only family and I want this to work.
Like I said in my previous post it is about balance. Me doing the things i want and not getting bogged down in guilt, Mum is not going to change and she shouldn't have to really. I do take the easy way out loads the path of least resistance when I am tired - not going out etc.
I have to say I do feel like I am going round in circles about this. My own circles I mean and I don't finish them!
It really is because i don't think when I am at work, about anything other then the next day at work, the kids, bills, washing, work,Mum and any random thing from day to life now I am holiday I have just stopped everything, its like my brains have fallen out!! I want to go and do stuff (and have been) its that that causes waves here. Of course next week when I am back at work and on the treadmill there are no problems cos I almost don't have time to have a life when I am at work. And so the circle begins and continues.
Anyhow enough of the self absorbed rambling, I have had two good driving lessons and booked a short break near Christmas. I have seen lots of my friends and made some new "contacts" on the free (v. MSE) dating websites (God what a laugh!!) kept up my walking (which is brilliant for me time)
I think it is possibly time for a reassessment of my debt free date and my aims for this year....make sure the Florida plan is on track
thanks for letting me go on and on! (round and round)

Not criticising you for staying. Everybody has different attitudes to debt and, more importantly, family responsibility. All I am saying is, having made your decision, make sure you are living your life and not constantly worrying.
We all have to live our lives and make our own happiness, sometimes by setting boundaries with those closest to us. You need to let your Mum know your boundaries, and then stick to them. Don't let her dictate how you live your life! Is she aware that she makes you so unhappy/stressed? My Mum would be mortified if she thought she was constantly upsetting me - surely your Mum would be too?

Today was a properly lazy day. I did NOTHING.
Well i resealed the bath and did my steps. Spoke to Mum a bit, it was good, we are both fairly stressed about the house and I have been feeling a mess whilst also feeling good about winding down. With the driving lessons it won'tbe long before I am off to the tip and doing car boots and what not. Re the going round in circles, I think I do take the path of least resistance,my basic lazyness and lack of confidence don't help! I know I have been better these last few months, maybe a year, trying new stuff, going out more. Its all a process, same old same old with me - I want everthing to be instant and don't realise the time I spend procastinating could have been spent actually doing the stuff!
My room is still a tip but its all ok. Have been flirting on the free dating websites, so far some nice guys. Of course they could all be nutters but it is nice talking to them......got about 4 on the go feel like a right tart!!! I miss male company. I could at this point dwell on the odd thing that one of the guys reminds me of my ex but I think I will gloss over that now.
I have made an extra payment of 690 pounds to the loan and done some sums. I have upped my monthly payment to 600 pounds and by the end of the year should be 4800 in debt.
so my new challenge is to "find" 4800 by the end of the year:rotfl:yes I am expecting to find it laying around in the street! it works out about 600 extra a month  but I am not going to think about it like that. I am going to just collect as much as I can from survey sites, ebay and work. And anything I can find to make money. I will also be as tight as possible some months and keep as much of my "spare" cash as possible. I am not yet sure how feasible this is (car expenses, hen weekends weddings) but we shall see.
Debt needs to be paid off quickly so I can save to go and live in America for 6 - 12 months.

HI Buffy
Really glad you are having fun chatting with guys - just check that the guy that is a bit like your ex isn't your ex (sorry - just my weird imagination!). Also really impressed you managed to seal the bath - I am waiting for OH to do that as I have no idea how! You've been doing your steps too.
So - it seems like you have ideas for making your extra dosh. Don't push yourself but every extra pound helps to bring that amount down. Maybe we can have an ebay challenge over the summer?

Ok so E gg, quite possibly the most useless difficult bank ever had put my lump sum payment on my account. Gee thanks. the whole faster payments thing clearly goes right over their little heads. 2 days rather than four hours............
Not to mention I just wrote to them and asked to put my payment up from 448 to 600 (which they said yes to) but today because of the lump sum (which apparently makes no difference to the maturity date Er yes it does it goes from Oct 2011 to Aug 2011???) I can lower my monthly payments to wait for it £591. wow. The one saving grace with them is you can over pay. It a pretty big saving grace I guess.
I took the loan out in May 2007, it was meant to run till May 2012, but now it will end in Aug 2011. Not bad at all as a worst case scenario.
When I came here in August 07 I was 24,240 in debt. its been rough with random expenses like cars, dentists and the house generally, but I am quite pleased to be sub 9K tonight. The end is definitely in sight.
Next month is going to be quite tight - very little second job due to two weeks off, plus a 1st Birthday, my sister's birthday, having to pay the rest of the money for the hen night as well as managing to pay 44 quid a week for two driving lessons. And there is more....
Hmmm. I need to do some maths. I also need to work out my loan money again, I am 8953 in debt, divided by 8= 1119 - 600 = 519 X 8= 4153
So that is the new magic number now I have taken off my 690, 4153 to find by the end of the year to be debt free by the end of the year.

Yes, I wondered that too, not just your imagaination- I also worried about the guy who is really near me:eek: me paranoid? no!
You could easily seal the bath - Last time I did it I used the gun thing that you have to push up from the bottom - too hard, this time I used the cannister one - comes in a tin like hair mousse does and you just cut the end off and push a bit and out it comes Brilliant stuff!!!
And yes to an Ebay challenge. I need something to motivate me back to the bay........
