Out of 13 creditors (including MBNA) the only company being difficult and not accepted the offer of payment is Next - the offer is £5 and they said they don't accept anything less than £10.
Lloyds TSB are also being a bit difficult saying they haven't received the proposal for payment and details from CCCS so can't freeze interest - but we can deal with that
had to reply to you before i forgot!
im with next well was til they handed it over to legal and trade! who are bar stewards to be nice!!!!!!
however my friends mother pays next .42 per month! on a 5 grand debt i owe 442!!!!!!!! and was paying 5 quid makes no sense
i think to be honest and logical to the rest of the creditors it depends how much you owe them how much repayments were for before you went belly up and the most important reason "what mood they are in when you ring!"
i have a loan a card with hsbc so does hubby i wrote to them for each account/debt owed same letter different dept, any way hubby got a letter back saying how sorry they were i get a threatning letter stating it has been passed on to a debt collector! so how does that work who knows????
anyway
a few tips,
MBNA WILL NOT EXCEPT ANYTHING THAT WILL TAKE MORE THAN 10YRS TO PAY OFF SO THEY WILL LOOK AT THE DEBT AND IF YOUR OFFER IS GOING TO TAKE MORE THAN 10 YRS THEY WILL NOT EXCEPT, THE CHARGES WILL BE ADDED MONTHLY AS WILL % NOW AFTER 6 MONTHS THEY HAVE NOW FINALLY STOPPED CHARGES (HOWEVER ONLY YOUR LENDER, MINE IS VIRGIN, HAVE TO POWER TO STOP CHARGES) MBNA WILL CHASE YOU JSUT PASS ON ANY NEW INFO TO WHOEVER IS DEALING WITH YOU
CAHOOT; HAVE FOUND TO BE QUITE REASONABLE THEY STOPPED CHARGES ACCEPTED PAYMENTS ON 2X 8000 LOANS
BARCLAYS WERE GREAT RING TALK TO THEM DIRECT THEY WILL DEAL WITH CCCS THEY NEVER WROTE TO ME AFTER MY PHONE CALL THEY ACCEPT MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON 1400 QUID DEBT
MINT ONLY OWE 400 SO NO PROBS
KAYS NO PROBS 200 QUID
HSBC TOTAL NIGHTMARE! DRIVE ME TO CRYING, SLAMMING HUNDREDS ONTO MY DEBTS A MONTHS REALLY SCREWING US INTO THE GROUND BUT I CARRY ON REGUARDLESS!
NEXT A PAIN IN THE BACK SIDE THEY WILL PASS IT ON AS SOON AS YOU HAVE DEFAULTED 8 TIMES WITH OUT EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT THEY RING YOU REPETEDLY ASKING FOR MORE MONEY THEN THE DC DO IT BUT DONT BE BULLIED BY THEM
ANYWAY IVE BEEN WITH CCCS SINSE JAN THEY ARE USEFULL AND HELPFULL SO I RECOMMEND THEM
GOOD LUCK

Egg use Moorcroft for credit cards and (from memory, as paid off now) deal with loans themselves. Moorcroft will hassle you every six months by increasing your monthly payment 'to enable you to pay off xxx months earlier'.
However they are clearly staffed by idiots, as they've just written to me increasing my repayment by £7/month so that I can make my final payment in 6 months time....except that at my current repayment level, I will have made my final payment in 6 months time!!! Durhhhh!
As for the comment above about MNBA taking the !!!!!! over 'numerous cards' - are you sure it's them and not you that are taking the !!!!!!???? Did they MAKE you have numerous cards with them? I think not!
If you're going to rack up big debts on the 'downward spiral' as many of us have, it's probably 'better' to spread your debt around a bit!! (not a recommendation, just an observation...).
I once owed Egg £15000 on card and loan - they were the most awkward of all my creditors.
Capital One accepted a reduced settlement - they were the only ones who did.
Au Gold/RBS: they stopped interest charges for about 3 years after a struggle.
Moocroft for Egg: No interest charges.
My unsecured debts were once £35000+, so I may know what I'm talking about...only a few more months now until I'm debt free - for the first time since I started Uni in 1987!!!!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

MBNA do seem unreasonable. I was tempted by them, with offers of 0% on transfers. Once they have their teeth into you it is very difficult to get them to let go! I have torn up my MBNA card, yet even last week, although I had paid my minimum payment, over the internet - they state that it will be on the account within two working days (even though the transfer is immediate), I was still hassled by telephone, and incurred late payment charges.
Capital 1 are even worse - March 2006 New transactions - nil. Charges over £100.00. Why - because even though I paid cash, into my bank, to their Head office collection account (also with my bank) payment was not shown on the account for seven days!!!!! What happens to the money, and interest, in this time? To cap it all, I received several very aggressive phone calls, at my work, asking to speak to me on a 'personal business matter' and claiming that I knew them personally. When asked what the company name was - it was given as 'Loxley House' Nottingham (check it out on google). They were most indignant when they were not put through.
These companies tempt you in, but once in they treat you very poorly, and seem only intent on getting the most money possible from you. The words 'help' or 'I understand, let's see if we can find a solution' do not exist in their vocabulary.
I have learnt a hard lesson, but I will not be tempted in the future.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
