Well ladies and gents, I was wondering if I could join in, looks like I will be a SAHM from April, hubby has a new job and at first we thought I could keep my part-time job and work around his shifts, unfortunately his shifts are very erratic and we can't get our youngest into afterschool care as they are fully booked and there is a waiting list, so he said to me, why don't you just stay at home with the kids. I've always wanted to be at home with the kids but we never had enough money coming in, I'm a bit worried about what people will think though as my youngest is 6, not exactly a baby0

Busy at work today and my C&P from my desktop would be too revealing, so all I'll say about that is [STRIKE]7 down, 2 to go.[/STRIKE] DONE!!!

Hi everyone!
Hope all is well. Oh Ragz you took me back there, I hope you are feeling better today.
2boysmum - Welcome! I only have 1 and he is 6 and I am *whispers* a single mum to add to the scorn from other people! You have to do what's best for your family, and like you I can't get the right childcare atm, it was surprisingly easier when he was in nursery.
Well, I was up half the night with DS, he's got a tummy bug so I was holding a bucket throughout the night. He's as chirpy as anything today and I'm knackered! He can't go to school now until after half term - rah.
I forgot to put the bin bags out last night! Argh. I will ask ex-OH if he would be ever so kind to put them in his communal bins, but he will huff and puff over it I'm sure!
I don't really have a list today, it's usually my not-doing-much day apart from routine stuff anyway.
Bye for now!0 -
:wave:Hi everyone
Welcome 2boysmumI think it is ok to be sahm with children that age - in fact I think it is good for them. My mum was a sahm until we were secondry school age. My DH said he won't mind if I am a sahm when children are school age. I think I will prob get a part time job then but only if I can do school hours and they are flexible so I can be there for children.
Well thursdays are turning into my lazy days with houseworkbut I was organised with getting out and about this morning
I am feeling better now and ds is better
We have been to yoga bugs and been to see a friend and played. Had lunch and ds now napping. I liked it when I came home cos house looks quite tidy
I think I might have a nap cos I am starting to feel quite tired. I do the yoga bugs move with ds and people started to notice I am pregnant today! I am 24 weeks! I thought my bump was obvious!!? lol! (it is!)
I have aquanatal tonight so I think I am going to take it easy this afternoon. I just need to tidy up lunch stuff and give the bathroom a quick clean.
Ohhh I sound quite lazymaybe I shouldn't go for a nap.

Same here.
Midwife 2 and a half hours late which meant I haven't done much housework as waiting for her to turn up...
Made the meatballs. Changed the recipe again, used up a courgette by grating finely into the mix. Made 1kg of mince into 3 meals worth of meatballs, which I have batch cooked so that I can freeze two lots. The other lot I've chucked in a dish with a carton of NCG tomato and basil soup and a load of mozzarella - dinner!
DH gone to post my letter (found old xmas 2nd class stamps in the bottom of a drawer!)
baby's been asleep for 3 hours! Wish she'd do that in the evening!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Thanks for the replies guys, I have mentioned it to a few people at work and they just coildn't understand it, they seem to think I'll be bored. I'll be working up till the end of March, although I am on holiday for a week at the beginning of the month so hopefully thats when I'll start to get this place in some sort of order, hubby has already started saying "when you stop working" so it seems as if it is actually going to happen.0

My week just keeps getting worse and today OH decided to play "bumper cars" with my little car and damaged the exhaust and a wheel, Has meant no car at all while its fixed and have had to get poor dad to collect kids from school
My list is just enough to get me thru till tomorro
Blitz dining room - DS has friend coming for tea
Cook whatever I can find for kids
Tidy kitchen
Wash x1
Prep clothes for tomorrow - must remember DS5 has Mufti day tomorrow
2boysmum- I always intended to try working when my youngest started nursery but since she started its rare that one or other of the kids isnt sick so still have no time and with OH working very awkward shifts that rotate its impossible to find anything that fits in. DS5 could not do childcare due to his problems so SAHM for a while longer it is, dont worry about finding stuff to do, once you have been at home a few weeks you will wonder how you ever managed to fit working in.0 -

2boysmum - welcome. I don't see the problem in being SAHM when your child is 6. Our youngest are 3 and 6 months, and DH has already said that he doesn't have a problem with me being a SAHM even once they're both in school. He reasons that he works shifts, which means it's difficult to organise childcare, and there are always half terms and summer breaks, again causing childcare issues. And with me being SAHM, that means I'm always there if there are school programmes, one of the children is ill, or whatever crops up last minute. Money is tight, but if I was working right now, even full time, I'd just be working to pay for childcare, which seems a bit silly.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

I am SAHM to three boys aged 6, 4 and 13mths who also works from home too - is that Ok to join in?
I fit what I do for work around the kids as it is my own business - makes things really flexible and gives me an income too. I really need to get organised with looking after the housework better though! I enjoy my work so much that I neglect other house jobs I need to do!3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
