I've lost count of the number of times that borrowing from the kids has helped us out of a hole. Its no different to me borrowing from my parents really although the kids never say I told you so or point out how in their day blah blah blah. Kids with savings no matter how big or small are very fortunate people. My DDs would far rather eat now than be told that dinner is tinned sphaghetti on toast again (cheaper than beans) but when they're 18 they'll have a deposit for a house.
Funnily they think they are the luckiest children in the school as they get to go to the park most days and feed the ducks and play out in the snow and on really exciting days there are huge bags of someone elses out grown clothes for them to play dress up in and decide what they'd like to keep. They like to bake in the kitchen (makes school lunches cheaper and more varied) and they both know how to cook an enormous array of dishes involving mince and lentils.
As long as your chldren are happy thats really all that matters. You're doing a fab job. Fingers crossed your OH finds something soon. I'd go demented if my OH was underfoot all day. Much as I love him its v. nice to have some time to myself even if its just to bang my head against a wall.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Can't add anymore to what moo has already said, your doing a fab job, i'm always dipping into kiddies money boxes, i always pay it back if its for milk or to pay a bill, but sometimes if its for an activity the kiddies want to do i explain i havn't got the money available and if they have enough saved that they could pay, they are then learning about money and that they can't always have everything they want.0

Afternoon Diary
Good and Bad day. Ive been totally overwhelmed by a gift from someone (you know who you are) which when I opened I cried, silly I know but I was really starting to worry about how I was going to buy food for the rest of the month. I never thought I would find friends that were so caring and generous on here and I love you all xxx
Stupid car has cost me another £138 today which I had to take out of B's savings. Breaks my heart having to use her money but I am hoping if I can stick to the £25 a week food budget I can pay a bit back into her account next month.
Feeling a bit Meh, stupid but highs and lows I guess
Need to sit down later and sort out Febs amended budget
So lovely that someone has helped you outand as for the rest, well everyone else has already said everything there is to say, you are a fab mum and you are working so hard to give B a happy life.

Ok time to update the budget for Feb so that I know exactly what is what
I have in the bank ready for bills on the 1st
Bank £630.60
Benefits still to be paid this month £337.66
My Salary for Jan £445.25
TOTAL £1413.51
Bills outgoing for Feb £1027.53
Now I would normally put money away for Car Service MOT, shoes Dentist Etc which would be £142.50
That takes the living money for Petrol, food, any bits such as school trips to £243.48 which compared to this month we will be living like kings!
So I plan to still try and stick to £30 a week food budget and as there are only 4 weeks thats £120, petrol normally comes in at £15-£20 a week so £80. That leaves £43.48. Sure I have probably missed something...oh Yes £60 needed to pay for OH speeding fine .
back to drawing board. Also havent accounted for possible decrease in Housing Ben again and the mahoosive £850 overpayment I need to payback :mad:I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi Sal, I was going to ask if you could possibly cut down on the petrol, it seems like the only obvious place you can trim back. Have you got much food in the cupboards you can use up?
ps any news on the chickens?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
