On the christmas planning thread, I know it's early but it really helps:

Our boys are now theoretically financially getting independent, but Christmas has always been about the goodie bag on Christmas morning :)

One is now in first job, other post grad funded, they do get bank transfers as a main pressie to help out with essentials, but christmas is all about the special goodie bag treats, which I have to spend all year finding.

It's not the amount, it's the quirky bits, or the things they've spotted they like in passing and you have to remember, or the jokey things you know they'll like. It also includes things like the mini boxes of coco pops etc which as our two normal had healthier cereals as youngsters was a treat, and some thorntons chocs on sticks (tried bigger things like chocolate santas, but when they were really little the couldn't bear to break them to eat them).

    Latest goodie bags consisted of:

Squeezy stress globes - you've got the whole world in your hand pun!

Drink mats - meerkats with one tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila, floor!! Not sure what african meerkats have to do with tequila!! But cool in their situation for home, work or lab.

    Afore mentioned cereal boxes.

Hair brushes, I travelled and forgot my hairbrush when we met, and both boy liked the replacement I'd bought!!

Thorntons chocolate reindeers and santas on sticks. (Banned from too much chocolate as they don't want to put on weight!!!)

Main goodie bad treats was one got a joke teashirt and the other 'cuddly viruses' ( google cuddly viruses if necessary, you can give someone the flu and they'll be quite pleased!!).

A few other mini chocs/biccies went in too.

But the essence of Christmas morning presents was that the thought that counts, rather than the quantity of items or the cost.

So if you want to go the quirky way, you need to keep your eyes and ears open for clues through the year, and look for bargains in poundstretchers and bargain bookstores etc, balanced with little thorntons treats etc :))

I resisted for weeks, then they got baby elephants for their farms and I had to have one.

I blame the PAD thread you know, without them I wouldn't even have a Facebook account :(

I am getting rather fed up with waking up at 2am and not getting back to sleep until 4.30am.......when the alarm goes off at 6am

I am, as you might have guessed, very tired. Could do with some sleep please!!

Have done scratches - £5 on one takes me up to payout again, so it has been a good week for me scratchwise.....now off to do banking, packed lunches etc....and coffee!

Hope you have a good day everyone!
