Fair enough Hypno; my friend is, erm, troubled and sleeping pills became a problem for her so totally understand it. I'm lucky in that normally I sleep like the dead!
The NY was supposed to be moneysaving to an extent; my friend won flights so they were free and then we were going to stay with our ex-housemate who lives in NJ... Sadly, she's had a change of circumstances so we've now got to get a hotel for 5 nights! :eek:
But am going with my best MS hat on; no shopping unless its in thrift shops... hopefully! Taking cash only so hopefully will be forced into being sensible (my friend has already been warned that she is not allowed to offer to buy me anything on her credit card!) :A
How old is your daughter? When I was 18 I almost went on an internship programme out there which another friend ended up doing (me, jealous?!). A year living and working in NY! Still a dream for me! Shame at the time so many of my decisions were decided by my loser boyfriend!
Packing has gone fairly well... Except for the 20 or so tops 'just in case'... And am slightly concerned at my lack of sensible clothes!
Next stop: sewing the toggle loops back on my duffle coat; it's not too small for me, just badly made... *grimace* :rotfl:LBM: January 2010DFD: August 27th 20120 -
Kaz, my DD is 15, and my DS 14........they are hoping that I might like a shopping trip to NY for my 40th later in the year (which of course I would have to pay for!) :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I think I need to tell DD that we are more likely to go for HER 40th :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

:rotfl::o good grief!
Small Final is up!
Barking mad, the lot of them :eek:
Hypno, I know it's a while away but has your DD thought about doing Camp America or similar in a few years? You get a few weeks at the end before you fly back, my DD did it 2 years running & clocked up NY, Chicago, New Orleans, Los Angeles & a few other places - internal flights are v cheap.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Been to dd's for a few days - so been catching up - good news on the mortgage and on the decision to start skiing yourself. You are sounding more positive than before I went - which is good news. Life's rollercoaster!! - it's a good job we don't know what it holds for us.
I've had an eye on the skiing as I've been 'pootling' on here - I say 'ouch' when my little figure falls on wii fit - dread to think what I'd say if I went through some of the falls I've just seen. I think the most adventerous I've ever been is ice skating twice - the 2nd time I went fell on my behind and fractured my coccyx and had to have 2 months off work - that was over 30 years ago and I've had no desire to travel on any sort of ice since!!
Hang on in there Hypno - you're coping well and have achieved a lot already. Happy kids (as happy as a teenager can be anyway LOL) with a roof over their heads is an achievement to beat any other!!! Keep yourself well - ((((((big hug))))))
