Shopping trip to New York - maybe your treat for you and the kids when you become debtfree (apart from the mortgage that is, otherwise you will be 109 before you get to the Big Apple!)

    Have a good day.

Oh ye of little faith.......what do you take me for - a lightweight?? Huh?? :rotfl:

As for the early pay - well because we are in February, the next payday is only 4 weeks 1 day away at most.......so not going to be a problem this month :)

ha, you're not wrong! Have planned to spend a day in Williamsburg and then will spend the rest of the time blindfolded, I think! :(

In the meantime, need to get through today; attending a conference today and my train from kings cross was cancelled. Hotfooted it to Liverpool St but the next train was delayed. Have now missed the connecting train at Cambs which only comes once an hour. Ms not going well as have brought a Sandwich and a drink to get me through- not alcohol I hasten to add!:rotfl:

Anyway, it's lovely and snowy here; just not very productive!

Hope everyones day is going well!

haha! Well spotted, P.....although you do get a little bit of respite until the new mortgage has actually gone through and I can do a "proper" budget - at the moment, I am still working on estimated figures and dates.....

Initial draftings, however, do show that I will survive March.....as long as I do not want to do anything too exciting :o However, survival is good, all things considered!

I have car insurance due Mid March, which does ruin the numbers slightly, so I will be investigating alternatives through quidco, of course, to see if I can get a better deal than my renewal quote. And I still have my mortgage costs and legal fees to come too.......ho hum.....

  • Just catching up on your goings on, and reading about you getting back into skiing then DS switched the olympics on and we watched the ski cross. I have never heard such enthusiastic commentary ever!

I LOVED the Skier Cross - it's completely bonkers!!! It was so fast even the commentators lost the plot - Errol Flynn? Classic.

I loved that bit, and apparently someone had done 'jail time', can't imagine Gary Lineker talking like that on MOTD somehow.

    Was that a new event?

Off to do some reading in case any of my job applications result in interviews. Would help if I knew what I was talking about. One of those things, you know it in practice but its years since you read the theory.

Wooohooo! Temporary reprieve!!! :D but, with regards to survival... Let me take you back a couple of years to the £1200 defecit. If you can survive that hon then this will be childs play. ;)

car insurance also up for renewal soon but I have just taken out virgin life insurance which also gives me 10% disc on car insurance. I've never found anyone that gets even within a sniff of what virgin charge me so no chance for cash back there sadly!!

MSE tip of the day from me, If you have any unwanted marks and spencers clothing, take it to Oxfam and they will give you a £5 marks and spencer voucher. Which may prove handy! ;)

Pania, do you just have to hand it over and they give you a voucher? Does it have to be any specific garment and can you do it more than once? Just thinking you could buy stuff at car boot for like 25p and then take to oxfam?

edit - just found the details on the oxfam site

I think the voucher they give you is £5 off if you spent £30 or more.

Sally the voucher is for £5 off a £25 (IIRC) spend, and has a shelf life of a month - that s a named month, so it is better to take the stuff into Oxfam at the beginning of March for example than to do it this week, unless you have something specific to get in February.....
