Good morning Hypno, first day of a week of freedom for you - make the most of it, you deserve it, and you will appreciate your children more when they come home.

Never noticed Hypno not appreciating her kids.. in fact all I've noticed recently is her commenting what wonderful kids they are under the current difficult circumstances

I think Hypno needs a few days time and space on her own, without feeling the need to put a brave face on for the children. In the next few days she can hopefully start to get her head together, press on with the tasks she has set herself and hopefully find time to spoil herself - something we all need to do from time to time. And she will indeed be very glad to see her children again when they return.

I'm home - the journey wasn't too bad, although I do find driving generally tiring, so I am glad to be home.

The children have, I assume, got off fine - they don't need me to hang about because they are part of the squad, so immediately leave me, and go and discuss who has brought what food treats with them.......

The excess baggage karma thing obviously caught up with me today - costing me £30, which I could have done without, but as DD already had on more layers than is reasonable to expect anyone to wear without overheating......unless I told them to wear their ski boots on the plane.....it was an expense I couldn't avoid.

The £30 cost has to come out of my meagre shopping budget, as I had not accounted for it elsewhere, so it has reinforced my need to eat what is in the house this week without complaint, and without spending on extra food until absolutely necessary.

As a result, I defrosted a half tub of leftover sauce from a takeaway we had a while back (no "chunks, just sauce") and made some rice with typical fridge odds and ends - onion, pepper, mushrooms etc. I also found an unopened jar of mango chutney in the cupboard - best before June 2007......but I am sure I won't die from eating it......so I had that to accompany it.

Am going to have tapioca pud for my supper tonight - yum yum, low fat, filling, and out of the cupboard.

Looks like I am in for some interesting meals this week......:o

    Hi Hypno,

Hope the drive wasn't too bad, and that you're back home and relaxing now.

Managed day 6 of the 28 day yoga today, it is getting easier to do, even despite it being the weekend, and the exercises getting harder. Hope you have time soon to start yours.

Requested a £5 amazon voucher from bp & a £10 from Woohoo, and managed to withdraw £10 from a bingo site today, so a good day mse wise, also likely to be a no spend day which is good even though I don't keep track of them at the moment.

Currently doing a fridge challenge, as with being away from the end of the week need to use up all perishables, so likely to be some strange meals this week :)

Sounds like you'll be doing similar, with using up your freezer odds & ends.

I bet your leftovers lunch tasted as good as anything Jamie or Nigella could rustle up!

I think you'll probably win, as we've only got things we've accumulated since flying out, except for a few things we brought with us.

The really weird meals were before we flew out, as I had to empty the fridge & freezer & cut down on all the other stuff, when we moved out of the rented place in England.

Whereas my meals will include things that Noah brought with him on the Ark......and things that I never even bought myself........tinned brussell sprouts, anyone :rotfl:
