I can see where you are coming from and I would probably have done the same Hypno as the result of him fukcing up will effect you and the children.
Not that you have to answer but does taking on the debt benefit you against the equity in the property? I mean should he really be able to walk away without paying any of the debtI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Dignified springs to mind again...well done you.
They say acceptance is a hard stage to get to with change but you seem to be very accepting of this is how is has to be, so surely thats a good start.0 -

It is a little complex, but involves "adding back in" the money from my dad's estate that I paid towards the debt, then offsetting that against the equity in the property and the debts, which would otherwise be divided between us.
But basically, it works out fairly that I take on the remaining debt and the mortgage, but I get the equity in the house in return......he just so happens to owe nothing, but gets nothing either.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Exactly....its hard not to when we have read so much of what Hypno has shared on here and how hard she has worked to get to her goals that I presume they both shared and now he has shifted the goals and planned something else  I'm not as dignified as Hypno0 -
Hypno I have just caught up with your news and wanted to send you some massive hugs. I know they mean little now but they are all I can do in this virtual world.
As someone who has been through similar I know how you must be feeling and how hard this time will be. I am sure it is harder for you as your children are older, I was fortunate my DD was too young to understand the situation.
You are a strong and wonderful women and I know that you will get through this and that you will continue to be the fantastic mother that you have always shown to be to your children.
I couldn't ever imagine feeling like I do now after having lost a 17 year relationship, but time is a healer and I know I am a stronger person now than I was back then.
