Missed the obvious one.... Was it purchased using a credit card? If so, you have the same rights against the card issuer as you would have had against Zavvi pursuant to s.75 Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Not missed, the OP states in 4th paragraph that it was paid for with cash. ;)

OP have you rang around for people with those baking ovens for repairs. (not greggs, although after last night i could use a greggs)

Anyways yes ring around and find one of these shops and they will repair your ps3 with the oven.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

I googled Ps3 and yellow light of death and there seems to be endless threads regarding this matter, there are some people who are experiencing this after a few months, and there are others who are getting it after a few years.

Although i dont hold out much hope that Sony will do a free repair,it has got to be worth a try.....who knows what could happen.

I will try Sony before i try getting the unit fixed privately,im in no hurry because i went out on boxing day and brought a new one, still not happy though that it only lasted two years.

Thankyou for your suggestions and your help.

Someone else just said that exact same peculiar phrase - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2174485 - post #4...

You've already posted in the wrong thread once... are you having a mental failure or something? Oh, wait, I get it, it's a "funny thing" going around. Whenever someone says "brought" instead of "bought", someone asks "where did you bring it from". Right...

They wont so its not even worth the effort trying. Their liability has ended at the warranty. Sony did used to do free repair/refurb replacement, but they ended this after the first 2 or so years as the price of units tumbled. Thousands have tried i your situation and i have never even heard so much of a rumour that anyone has succeeded in a free repair from them since. quite simply because there is no reason that they should.

So do start looking for a local repair. no more than £50 and you have a ps3 as good as new.
