Divas' cheap and easy chocolate cookiesWhoops struggling with links !??
4oz/125g butter
2oz/75g caster sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla essence plus a drop or two!
3 1/2oz/110g plain flour
1/2 oz/15g cocoa powder (real cocoa powder and not a substitute as they won't taste as good)
Milk to bind- Cream the butter and sugar together, adding the vanilla essence until the whole mixture is light and fluffy.
- Sieve the flour and cocoa powder into the butter and sugar mixture and then stir in.
- Drop teaspoons of the mixture onto a baking sheet. This makes about 15 - 18.
- Bake in a fairly hot oven Gas mark 5 or 375f for about 15 mins or so.
- Leave on the tray to cool for a min or so before moving to a wire rack.
Hope this is ok - these are really yummy and I will be doing more today as the kids are demanding them !!

Hi, St0lli, that is spooky! I think it happens to us all with someone (in my case boyfriend) moaning I'm hungry, don't we have any chocolate?!
Thanks for that recipe TarunTau, those brownies sound great but I've realised I've only got 2 eggs left so they will have to wait until OH brings some home from work (he knows someone with chickens), but if I do make them I will definitely let you know how they turn out.
Tashja, thanks so much for posting the biscuit recipe, thats the one I'll be trying in a bit xStarted Comping 25th September 2013.

This is a pudding rather than cake or biscuits, but it hits the chocolate spot (C spot:D) and needs only cocoa.0

Right well, I changed my mind and decided to make the brownies that TarunTaru suggested and they've just come out of the oven now and they are delicious, really chocolatey and chewy as brownies should be. I'm so pleased, thanks so much for the recipe, I'd definitely recommend them, I did have to bake them for 40 mins not 30 as the recipe said but that might be because I used SR flour instead of plain as that was all I had. Ta loves xxStarted Comping 25th September 2013.

try a Victoria sandwich recipe using cocoa.
4oz butter or margarine
4oz sugar
2 eggs
3oz SR flour
1oz cocoa
You can make a chocolate buttercream to go in the middle, using icing sugar, butter and a bit of cocoa. Vanilla extract will tart up the flavour a bit.One life - your life - live it!0 -
I'm deliberately bumping this thread as the recipe is fantastic
- I've just made the cacoaweb ones from the link on here - very similar to the other recipe posted on here - easy and delicious! I only cooked mine for 20 minutes. I sprinkled the tops with chocolate chips that I bought cheap (39p) from Tesco's the other day and I also used dried egg powder (another cheapie from Tesco's - I think it was about 20p a tub and has been sitting in the cupboard for a while) as I had run out of eggs. The only problem is that I made them for lunches tomorrow and we've polished off all of them
- next time I'll make double (triple!!) the quantity.

Quite keen moneysaver......0 -
For a really quick chocolate/cake fix, I have made this before:
In a mug put the following:
4tbsp SR flour
4tbsp sugar
2tbsp cocoa
1 egg
3tbsp milk
3tbsp oil
mix it all together with a fork, then stick it in the microwave for 3 mins. It'll rise up like a cake, it's not fantastic quality but for a quick fix it hits the spot. My b/f spreads it with peanut butter but I prefer it on its own! I guess you could do it plain with jam too!
xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0
