Concerning my last post about looking at reviews online, I have noticed that a significant number of websites have removed all negative reviews about this company. It would be interesting to see why they are being removed - often such posts are removed because of legal threats - as has happened on money saving expert.

For example, find a negative view in this lot. Lots of ones removed by moderators though:

http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.gamesbasement.co.uk

However, there seem to be a lot of fairly unhappy people on this facebook thing:

HI I ordered an item for my girlfriends 21st birthday on game basement. The order was placed on the 30/5/2011 with the tag item in stock written under the item, I was charged the full amount the same day. Here we are on the 13/6/2011 and low and behold no item has arrived after 3 phone calls and unsincere apologies I was finally offered a refund in 7 working days or £2.50 in loyalty points!! JOKE!
I have done all the chasing all the contacting what sort of an organisation is this?? I would say a very poor one! I have been told the item will be shipped tommorow at the latest via 24 courier so we will see what happens. Regardless of that customer service is none existent I will never use them again [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM]

7th June have found numerous poor reviews about this company I contacted trading standards who were not interested as it is a sales of goods issue. however they did advise me to contact credit card company.
8th June spoke to my creidt card 'disputes dept. They have been brilliant. They have refunded the full amount and taken up the issue with games basement who have 45 dyas to respond to the creidt card company.
I will never use Games basement again, it just amazes me how they are allowed to trade.

Games Basement is one of the worst companies on the internet. Do not buy from them.
I have just had to get VISA fraud department to get my money back.
They advertise cheap prices, but do not deliver.
If you want broken promises, hassle, disappointed children, then this is the company for you.
• Hi,

Given the number of posts it amazes me Gamesbasement are still trading. I contacted trading standards who had no interest in following up my complaint.
I have set up an email address:
IHAVENOTRECEIVEDMYORDERFROMGAMESBASEMENT@hotmail.co.uk

Please send an email to the above with subject laid out as
: surname, amount paid, date order placed.

I am hoping to get plenty of emails which I will then forward on mass to various bodies, trading standards, watchdog, sky news my MP,, 10 downing street, HMRC, (they are taking VAT but possibly not paying VAT) and anyone else I can think off.

Perhaps if these bodies rec alot of emails hopefully hundreds within a few minutes somebody will take some decisive action.
Please forward link to all your friends and work colleagues as I suspect there are thousands of people who are awaiting reciept of orders/refunds.
• I ordered a DSi console and game from Games Basement on 16 July. The website stated it was in stock an would usually be dispatched within 48 hours. I thought this would be in plenty of time for my daughter's birthday this coming Friday (29 July). Nothing has arrived in the last 10 days and I am getting anxious. Every time I check my Games Basment account it just states 'processing', not dispatched. I sent them an email. No reply . I can't get anyone to answer the phone. I did a google search for Games Basement and to my horror found this thread! I would never have ordered through Games Basement if it hadn't been given a 4.5 out of 5 rating as a seller on Google shopping. How can it get a rating like that if so many people have been let down?

Anyway, I am pretty sure the console isn't going to arrive by Friday and I want to cut my losses. They have already debited my bank account but can I cancel the order and expect a refund even though I haven't had delivery and not that much time has elapsed? I want to order through a reliable firm like M&S so I can expect a guaranteed delivery on time?

Any ideas? I do not want to risk losing my £125 but obviously don't want a disappointed daughter on her birthday.

Many thanks, Cerisss

Ugh!

I don't know whether to be annoyed, or pleased (both in a way).

I ordered a game from gamesbasement.co.uk and I got the game in less than a week. I made a post on here about that, and was quite pleased.

However, on saturday, I found that my debit card had been stopped.

I contacted nationwide (who I bank with) and they said that my card had been stopped due to me buying from somewhere that was a suspected fraud risk.

Essentially, because I had bought from such a company, and they now had my card details, Nationwide cancelled my card as a security precaution and are issuing me with a new one.

They declined to tell me who the fraud risk was, as it was only suspected, but not confirmed, but the only company from whom I had made a purchase in the past few weeks who I don't normally use, is gamesbasement.

Unless Amazon, Pizza Hut, Just-Eat, Tesco, Sainsburys, John Lewis or Play.com and steam are fraud risks...

So, although I was one of the few satisfied customers who got their order, I'm now suffering the inconvenience of having to change my myriad payment details. I will also have a new card number to remember. FML.
• Hi,
I bought a, what i thought was a wii fit board but turned out it was a not an Nintendo Wii.
I really wanted the Nintendo so I posted it back to Gamesbasement.
I ordered it on the 20th May.
I have yet to receive my refund, First they say I had to have Authorisation to be able to get a refund OR ELSE!!!! Threat!!!!
I got Authorisation sent it back.
Then I get a message that i have to wait 30 days for a refund, what a load of rubbish:mad:
Up until today I havent seen my refund, I am SOO AAnnooyed I could scream.
I was able to phone them, but now there is an automated message saying contact us via e mail.
What is the use of there phone number.
Does anyone know of the Phone number of where there registered its somewhere in Nort Finchley.
I will contact Trading Standards next.
HELP I WANT MY MONEY BACK
• I'm the same, I ordered a product at the beginning of July and still haven't received it. I've waited the advised 15 days and got a generic email when I contacted them. When I phoned I got an answering machine to contact them between MON-Fri 9-5, which it was when I called. I really wish I checked this site out before I bought with them. I'm chasing them up and will be using the Consumer Protection Distance Regulations. I will also try and get the money back via Visa Chargeback as I bought it with my Visa Debit.
• Hi all,
I ordered a dsi from games basement beginning of April, item never recieved so after numerous phone calls and empty promises of next day delivery I cancelled the order.
Money for the item was taken from my account already...roll on May still no refund, contacted them they said they were anaware of the cancellation and would be refunded within 30 working days and guess what!! Yes i'm still awaiting the refund four months on
I paid with a debit card so not sure if could somehow claim it back not sure how all that works:( but will have to look into it.
I did read reviews on these people but unfortunately only seen the good ones dont understand how they are allowed to go on trading
