games basement - advice appreciated

I ordered my kids christmas presents (dsi,psp and 6 games) from games basement on the 7th of dec, the money was taken 8th of dec (unfortunately used debit card not credit!!) . At time of order it said everything was in stock and would be delivered within 2-4 working days. I rang them on the 17th as nothing had arrived, I was told it would be sent by dhl 48hr service that w/e and I would have it by tues 22nd. I rang again mon 21st as account said 'still processing' and was told it hadn't been sent but was going to be sent that day.

Well nothing turned up and phones are all down, I have contacted trading standards and they have told me to send a recorded letter to them explaining everything.

We had to go out christmas eve to re-buy kids presents, so we are down by nearly £400!!!

Has anybody else had any problems with them? or can anyone offer any other advice?

    After reading lots of bad reviews about them today, I have received an email from them today saying all items dispatched today!!! Will give them til monday,have everything crossed!!

    Hiya,
    I ordered a set of headphones for the xbox for my son on 14th dec from games basement. total cost was £140.48.... I was told on phone and by email that they were in stock and I would definitely recieve them well before xmas. I rang the following week and was told on phone they would be dipatched by DHL one day delivery on 20 dec....waited in all that day and nothing!!!! took two days to get through on phone...emailed several times and no reply! When I did get through on phone i was told not only would I not get them before xmas ,I would not have a refund till after xmas leaving me no money to buy my son an alternative. The customer service skills were terrible. I told the man on the phone I had no money and it was my sons only present,practically begging him, but his attitude left me in tears. Still no refund from them today, no email and the phone goes dead. I have contacted trading standards but any advice as to what to do next.

    they are legit, i just think they take ages to despatch their goods despite them sayin that they are in stock..

    i ordered a pair of headphones from gamesbasement on the 11th Dec, money taken from my account soon after,
    same price as yours most likely the same brand "Turtle Beach Ear Force X41 Gaming Headset", but the order has not changed from "Processing - Order Received", i sent them a number of emails mentioning the fact that it was a christmas present, but never got a single reply regrading these, i tried phoning on several times and could never get through,
    only time managed to get through was during christmas when the lines where closed.

    They sent me one update a few days before christmas mentioning that it was not going to make it to me for christmas. I have now noticed the item is out of stock on there website, i will never be buying anything from gamesbasement again. :mad:

    Like to add my tale to the thread.

    Ordered 4 DS games in early November (like to get a head start on xmas!). Two came the week after (the cheaper, impulse buy ones) but the two we really wanted (Prof Leighton & PB and Disneys UP) have yet to arrive.

    Customer services lady also very lovely and gave me back confidence in them - alas the promised email confirming the refund and the money back into my account have yet to materialise and am sick to death of ringing only to get an engaged tone.

    Thank you for the addresses/company info...at least i can write now, being as email and phoning is next to useless.

  • Glad I am not the only one but so sorry to hear your stories.Was told on monday refund would definitely be in my account yesterday but guess what....? nothing! I am on hold to them as we speak on their expensive rate phone line. I am disgusted with this company and they would have had a load of business from my family if they had been any good! A new company normally goes over and above to attract customers back but they seem to be doing the opposite. I have logged complaint with trading standards and they suggested everyone do the same to avoid this happening to anyone else. xmas was ruined thanks to them my son has autism and did not want anything else.
  • An update: just spoke to a perfectly pleasant woman at GB who told me the money has DEFINITELY left their account so I have to ring my bank to see when ill get it.... oh yes and a pig just flew past my window... Maybe they just hope you will give up in the end or they will make so much off your phone calls eventually. I hope everyone gets their money/goods soon keep ringing them . E mail never gets answered and all emails seem to be generic regarding orders etc. Before I placed the order for headphones I callled them and they said they were defo in stock so to go ahead and order them.
