I was 12 days overdue on both....first I was moving shale around the garden as we were filling in a trench when I was 10 days overdue. Second we moved the double bed from the spare room into the space above the garage!

Keep active & move about as much as possible. Tidy your house, do some food (see you have), get some bits in for all your visitors, make sure you have the hospital bag ready (I did a spare bag too, in case I ended up in hospital longer & save OH having to get extra things for me - which I ended up needing!). Have some nice warm baths, make sure the camera battery is charged, memory stick empty.....I could go on!

    HTH, good luck

Read up on 'optimal fetal positioning' - I was 12 days overdue with DS1 and had to be induced, when he was eventually born (caesarean) it was blatantly obvious why I was so overdue; he was in totally the wrong position. I took all this knowledge with me into my 2nd labour with DS2; he was ten days overdue but I knew that he was in the right position, refused to be induced, and two sweeps later and things started on their own.

Go for a really long walk ... that's what set DS2 off!

And remember that babies are due anywhere bewteen 37 and 42 weeks so you aren;t 'overdue' yet :) Plus you can refuse to be induced if you want, even at 42 weeks.

But hopefully Bubba will arrive soon and you won;t need to worry!!

    :)

I second getting lots of sleep and having pampering things cos you won;t have time afterwards, that's for sure.

  • Found it!

There was also a diy sweep that we found   :rotfl:

Oh me god, this sounds really dodgy. Surely this would be dangerous and there is no way I would put an unborn child to this.

Wash your hair, file your nails (remember no nail polish just in case you have to be taken for a section or assisted birth), rub in the bio oil, get some books and enjoy being able to fully cook your baby, annoying as it is to be overdue, you are lucky.
  • Only thing that worries me is I am getting bigger & bigger every day... my bump is 120cm around no which is just crazy and incredibly I've avoided the stretchmarks so far, but if I get them in week 42 I will be well annoyed. I'm not a very big person in general (nor is my husband) and I'm worried our baby will be enormous!!
Does it really keep on growing and growing until it is born??

I feel for you my DS was offically 11 days late but I know the date of conception so I made him around 20 days late!
I was tearing my hair out and every day my parents would phone to see if I'd noticed anything yet!!!
I was absolutley huge, DS was stuck and the midwifes were amazed at how small the placenta was for such a big baby despite me telling everyone that I knew my dates were right, not theirs. Fortunatley everything was OK but the wait was awful.

Hope you don't have much longer to wait and you have your baby soon xx

Airhostess, dunno if it keeps growing until birth, think they do slow down and the final weeks you look huge because your body retains as much water as it can to cope with the blood loss during and after the birth. I looked huge, was scanned and baby was said to be huge and she was only a wee tiny 6lb15oz. I do feel for you 37 weeks and I was fed up as much as I wanted to cook her for as long as I could and that I hated people complaining of being full term when I would have given anything to have done it but I was really done with being pregnant (more because of the GD, high BP and irritated uterus contractions). But then suddenly your belly is empty and you have to get out of bed to feed a screamy baby :D

I spent my last few weeks of pregnancy lying in bed reading magazines and eating chocolate, it was heavenly and made sure I was calm and relaxed when my DD came.

  • This is a good thread - how are you getting on?

I am 40+3 today and have had a miserable day, feel like I am stuck in the house (bad snow) and just miserable!!!

Your thread has made me feel a bit better, enjoy these last few days of being able to have some 'me time' and ensuring bubs is fully cooked and ready.
    Bump due 30th December 2009 :j
