Go out and get some magazines and puzzle books, and some good books, if you end up having to be induced you might be in for a long time of it (sorry, that's probably not what you want to hear!). I was overdue with both of mine and ended up having to be induced both times.
  • Awww i feel for u, the waitis the worst part. When i was waiting on my little darling to come along, i ate fresh pineapple the day before to try induce labour and went into labour during the night. Its quite a popular choice for trying to bring on baby. Dunno if theres any truth in it huni but it seemed to work for me :D

  • Thank you so much for all your replies!

I think I must have tried everything - curry, pineapple, (ate a whole fresh one all by myself!!) red leaf tea, sex, jumping up and down. Had a sweep yesterday and that hasn't had any effect so far. Am too scared of diahorrea to try the castor oil thing, I think that is the only thing I haven't tried!

Well I've arranged to meet some friends in a cafe later and am off to the library now to get some books out, great idea! We also got one of those baby record books that had space for scan photos and my husband and I have had a lot of fun filling that in so far (up to the page where they want the birth date, time, weight etc - dying to be able to fill in that part in!!)

I feel so fed up as I am so enormous - went from 8 stone to just under 13 stone now, I can barely move about but I'm making the effort to go out for a walk every day just to get out of the house... glad I am not the only one though!

    xx
  • I was 13 days overdue when I went in to be induced.
I ate pineapples, hot curries, scrubbed the house from top to bottom and even hoovered the stairs twice a day! Nothing worked.

Have you made sure your hospital bag is packed properly?
Have you got enough nappies? You can never have too many nappies.
Maybe go out and buy some nappies. I'm driving you daft, aren't I?

Trust me, I feel your pain :D
But the outcome is amazing (and exhausting) so just take it easy xxx

Having a good old foot massage can work wonders, (I actually used my foot spa when i was expecting my dd and went into labour the following day.)
I know it's hard but just sit back and relax while you can as soon you'll have no time to at all.

Can you imagine if we did them all  It would be something like this

    get up
    dtd
    nipple stimulation
walk up / down staris a couple of times
    pineapple for breakfast
    star jumps
    hot shower / bath
    get dressed
    go for a long walk
    back for a curry lunch
    bounce on gymball
watch a bit of afternoon telly whilst rocking on all fours
walk up / down staris a couple of times again
do the cleaning and alot of nesting
have a rest but make sure its lying on your left for baby positioning
have rest of curry for dinner followed by a desert of .... pineapple
Practice using tens (from wk37) and do birthing positions
    do a bit of yoga
walk up and down the stairs again
    dtd
    go to bed
    :eek::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::D

Hang on that is frightningly similar to my day:o - minus the curry, pineapple dtd, nipple stimulation & starjumps:eek::rotfl::rotfl: Think i might subconciously want this baby to make an appearance:rolleyes:

There was also a diy sweep that we found   :rotfl:

I went 11 days over and did some lunges in the middle of the lounge, I lunged as low as I could go and low and behold went into labour a few hours later ;-) and hey if nothing else happens then your giving yourself a gentle work out.

No one really knows why a woman goes into labour. Its thought to be a combination of hormones released by baby and mother. Relax and try to structure your days.x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
