We found a flat yesterday and decided to take it!!!
It's really nice and light. First floor flat though so no gardenand the kitchen/lounge is not big;basically kitchen on one wall, little strip of laminated kitchen floor and then a living area with bay window. But it is very nicely done and the private landlords are really nice. They are only moving cos they have a 9day old baby and their parents live in Canada so when they come to visit they'll come for longer periods and therefore need more space. Nothings perfect but I think it'll suit us to start off with. I tell you now though,I never want to go back to shared accommodation with strangers again. Haven't had chance to tell my flatmate yet as I went to see a friend last night and it took longer than I accounted for. We're going to go and sign the rental agreement tonight so it's all happening! Won't believe it all until we move though. Very excited!!!

Signed the rental agreement yesterday and managed to tell my flatmate;she said she was expecting it. Not sure if I'm getting rent money back and the deposit or just the deposit, but we're moving on the 1st so it'll happen how it'll happen. Very exciting!!!!
It's unfurnished place and we only have a bed, wardrobe, coffee table and two bookcases so will be interesting. We also away after bank holiday weekend so will need to get moved in asap. New landlords are getting out this weekend and then getting cleaners in to get the place spick and spam (is that how you spell it, heard the expression but have never seen it written down?), then we have to go and check the place with landlord and get the keys and off we go.
My bf let his landlord know last night about half 6 that his room would be available from the 1st, and had his first viewing last night about half 8. The girl seemed to like the place but haven't heard of confirmation yet that she wants it.
Off to Poole tonight after work for bf's dad's 50th birthday party, so will meet even more of the family.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
the phrase is spick and span.
good luck with meeting the family! Sounds like its all go on the rental front... I think you soon build up furniture - people at work will probably give you stuff, freecycle is another good sourceAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Hey all.
Hope everyone's had a good weekend!
I met the rest of the family. And I survived! There's a few of them but they are all very nice. Bit chaotic at times with the kids, but when isn't it?
On Saturday we did a kayaking trip, about 15km all in all. Ended up doing the whole trip cos not everyone wanted to do all of it. Was supposed to swap more, as there were two stopping points, but couldn't get to the second one cos it was too shallow and muddy. The weather at times was horrendous and made it hard work going against the wind and the waves. But all in all it was great trip and definitely made you feel you'd achieved something.
Also managed to source another double bed and a kitchen table from bf's dad. We were supposed to go on holiday after bank holiday weekend but I think we need to cancel it now because of moving and bf not still being quite over the stress fracture in his foot and my elbows being bad. I think we'll postpone it till later in September.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Good that the family visit went well - and great news re the furniture. Cancelling the holiday sounds wise - unless the fees are high....
We are using clubcard vouchers to go to a Marriott for a couple of nights this weekend - just the 2 of us without the kids - can't wait!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That'll be lovely savingh. Spending some time with just OH.
No cancellation fees for us, we're were only going up to North Wales for walking and mountain biking, nothing booked as probably would've stayed at with either of his parents or camping somewhere.
My wrist is bad after the kayaking as well and with the moving we're def pushing the holiday back now.
BF got rid of his room last night so we can def move in on the 1st now. Bf is going to call new landlord today to see how they're progressing. They were supposed to move out last weekend so just getting the cleaners in and then checking the place with them. Hopefully start moving in at the weekend but I have Tuesday off as well and bf can take that off as well so should be fine.
Went to see some wardrobes last night but not sure if they're too big and not sure we liked them enough anyway. Decisions,decisions...DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Went to the doctors yesterday again and finally managed to get proper ibuprofen and they send off a referal to physio. Wrist feels much better today though it's still not good and there's a lump on it from the strain/inflamation. I 'have' to go to a beach volleyball competition this coming weekend cos I can't let my partner down. I'm hoping it's one day only though. Will buy elbow supports before that though and will be careful as I really don't want to affect my recovery too much.
I think we've decided no on the wardrobes I found using works intranet. They're ok but probably too big and bf isn't too keen on them as they're just chipboard. They look ok, but there you go. On a look out for a sofa bed as well...DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
