Yeah, agree with you CMD. The thing is, enough has happened to me over the years that I know I'm strong enough to cope with anything and will survive what ever happens.
It's funny though, most people move in together cos they want to spend more time together. Me and bf are moving in together so we don't have to sacrifies outside hobbies just because we want to be together. (Last week I think we only stayed at mine once, otherwise I've just been getting clothes etc from home)DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Aargh!
We didn't get the cottage. Someone else took it on Saturday! So disappointed, it was perfect. Anyway, we learnt an important lesson, houses are like ryanair cheap flights, when you see one you like, you got to take it straight away.
It's our own fault, we wanted to check we could really afford it. We should've called them back straightaway on Saturday morning. GRRRR! (for our own stupidity). Back to the drawing board...DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

We have a couple of more viewing today and bf is trying to get some more for the afternoon/evening. I don't know if I can go and see any of them yet, but I trust his judgement and we seem to have a similar idea where/in what kind of place we'd like to live.
He's going to apply for another secondment in his company which would take him to Bristol again and if it'd come permanent, that's where he'd like to move. Gosh, I really don't know when to talk about things, cos in one way it all seems too early but then we're kind of facing all these possible things in the future and I need to know how committed he is. I'm crap at talking about things without making them too 'heavy'. Must practise I guess.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

When he talks about Bristol does he ask you to move with him?
That's quite a commitment so I think you are entitled to bring up the future. I would go with being honest - say you don't want to be heavy but you need to know where he sees things going (and obviously everything is subject to change)Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Well, we had two places to look at lunch time. The first one was quite nice but in the wrong area. Second one was ok with a garden and nice bed rooms but horrendous kitchen with no storage or worktops. So no to both of them.
We had a viewing in the evening for this place that looked amazing in description and photos but when we got there, the couple who'd seen it just before us had taken it so didn't even go in. We were so disappointed, I really thought that would've been IT! So had a bit of a 'feeling sorry for ourselves' evening.
But back to the drawing board now.
I asked bf about Bristol; he said it would be my decision if I wanted to move but yes, he could see us living together. I think I'm pushing it too fast atm though. He said why don't we just first live together and see how it goes. And I do agree. I did say to him though that I wasn't into wasting my time after what happend with ex. I think he understands. Plus I think I need to remember all the ways bf shows me that he likes me:1.we spend every night together, 2. he's added me to his car insurance permanently and now that his renewal is upcoming he's still keeping me in 3.he wants to move in with me. I don't think I really have anything to worry about.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Hi Tirl
It is understandable to wary and careful. It is just trying to balance a sensible amount of caution with appreciating what you have and enjoying life. Not easy for any of us in practice!
Hope you have a good day and find a nice place to live soonAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
