I only ever use RM and seem to have no problems maintaining a decent set of stars. I also charge actual cost (in non media categories) or maybe add on 10 -15p for an envelope.

    It really isn't rocket science.

soolin i have no problem with my stars all at 4.98 with no 1's or 2's but that is mainly down to the fact i have prices set correctly and i offset my postage loss against the product selling cost. That isnt my issue but some buyers seem to think if something actually costs £1 at the post office till to post it that should be all they have to pay, im not sure if its down to stupidity or ignorance but other asscoiated costs have to be accounted. Im 10 miles from the nearest post office so it inevitably cost more to post 1 item then it does to post 20 at any one time so i have to find a balance, but as a seller im not going to burden that cost YOU as the buyer are going to pay it as i run a business not a charity!!
DSR system is redundant if you feel the packaging was rubbish or the P&P was excessive thats what the feedback box is for and you can explain your reason, marking some one 1 star for P&P cost because it was badly packaged is bull and anyone as a buyer then checking that person rep/DSR will think they are overchargers.

This is just my opinion and we will have to agree to disagree
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

I seem to remember someone on here getting low stars because the buyer could see that it cost about a fiver (or something stupid like that) more to post than they paid! Lots of buyers seem to be tsfe.

Now that I understand about the DSR's I use them properly, give 5* as standard. I remember when they first came in and thought they were just to help the sellers themselves, and marked someone really low for a minor problem. Ebay really should explain to buyers, on the page where they rat them, what the DSR's are and what the consequences are.

I'm afraid that if I paid, say £5 for postage and it turned up badly wrapped with a first class stamp on then I'd leave low p&p dsrs. By searching for things you get an idea of what most people charge for postage, anything above that and I assume that it'll be better than normally packaged.

Oh, and I'm afraid I don't think that anything other than postage costs and packaging costs should come under p&p. To use someone elses example, I don't go to Tesco, pay £10 for my shopping and then get another charge for their overheads - it's built into the business model, as it should be for ebay sellers.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • I think the real issue here is that ebay put the p&p star there because they want sellers to put the postage cost in with the listing and offer free p&p on everything so they can get their fvf higher.
