Is this the worst P&P DSR for an active seller

I would say that the P&P stars should stay because don't they cover the whole P&P service, of which cost is only a part? For me, leaving a lower P&P star rating would be acceptable if, for example, the packaging is inadequate or the delivery time too slow (because of delay in posting rather than a delay in delivery).
For example, I once bought a CD which had £2.50 P&P on it (before free P&P). I was happy to pay this because, as you say, I was happy with the overall price. However, when it turned up, the box had been broken in the post as it had been just wrapped in brown paper. The CD was fine, so I didn't bother with a SNAD dispute, but because of the inadequate packaging around the box I gave him low stars for P&P.No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -

You dont go to tesco and buy something for £10 then go to customer service desk and say "actually i only want to pay £8 for it" the price is clearly marked you as the consumer have the CHOICE to purchase or not
We are not talking about item cost though, there are no stars asking how a buyer feels about the cost of the item.
The stars are marked for p and p so if I am charged a great deal more for every single other thing the seller wants to charge then yes I will reflect my satisfaction, or not, in the stars.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. packaging fair enough but dispatch time has its own DSR. THe problem is also buyers as mentioned arent fully aware how detrimental these ratings can be to a seller. THe star rating stats for Postage & Packaging costs, so how can someone who has free P&P be awarded anything less than 5 stars, you were charged nothing for P&P (yeah probably paid for it in a round about way due to cost of product) but still get a low rating!!
Its just another way for ebay to up there FVF as you only get charged a % on the sale price exc P&P by forcing some listing to have free p&p they know people will add it to the listing price therfore increasing the FVFEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Actually there is an instance where less than 5* is appropriate on a free postage item and that is when item turns up so badly packed that it is completely ruined. Luckily my ebay purchases have all been fine so far, but I've had some very badly wrapped books from Greenmetropolis where the books have been unreadable on arrival.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. the stars are for cost of postage and packaging nothing else so why would you rate it there, your mis representing the sellerEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Why? If the seller had provided bad, adequate or good packaging then it is relevant. If a book arrives and is not fit to read, it is clear to most normal folk, whether the correct packaging has been used. Yes, I agree that RM do use some parcels as footballs, but a good seller will KNOW this and package accordingly, and this is relevant or should be, to the cost.0 -
What happens to your stars if a buyer leaves no feedback at all?
I tend to not leave feedback as a seller untill the buyer leaves me some, but
I have had several buyers who just paid and were never heard from again?“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -
Nothing, you either leave them and they count, or you don't and they don't.0

I think the P&P DSR should be abandoned on the grounds of stupidity.
I got 6 ones and twos for the P&P DSR in the month that I offered free postage on everything for Second Class post and 20p for First Class
On sending out a mass email to all my buyers that month saying
"I wouldn't dream of asking you what DSRs you left because that would be against eBay rules - but it is apparent that some people have not been happy on the P&P front so if if anyone would like to have their say and let me know what the problem was I'd be more than happy to listen - cos I'm a bit confused."
I received replies such as:
"I wanted free postage and it cost £3.14!!! It was on the postage sticker! Get out of that one!"
"My order took longer to arrive than other people in your feedback because you sent it Second Class!"
and my personal favourite:
"You just added the postage price into the price of the item didn't you? Swizz!"
Needless to say I do not offer free postage any more. There seems to be some correlation between free postage and Um... morons. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

Love it. So you dont charge them, then they complain when YOU pay actual the postage.“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0
