I know this isn't exactly OS but have to tell someone. I had a phone call this morning from Housing Authority to tell me they are coming tomorrow to measure up for a new back and front door. Hip Hip Hooray! I've only been begging for the last 8 yrs.
Well must go and get the inventory done now.

  • Well...DH went to Mr T this morning and spent £16.11 buying a few items for the children's packed lunches. It's amazing how it all adds up, even he commented on how the prices have gone up since the VAT increase:mad:

Anyway, my mum and dad came round with a little bit of shopping (they do every Tuesday) so I should have a few more meals at least for another couple of days :T
  • Had my first spend of the year this morning, after 4 NSDs. Went with my daughter to Bluewater Shopping Centre, just to keep her company and look after the baby while she tried stuff on. I don't like the place much, find it far too expensive for my tastes. Got a brilliant bargain in M&S though: a golfers' kit for £1 instead of £9.50. Got it for my hubby's birthday in March: he's got 2 sets of golf clubs acquired through various means, but has never played golf in his life! I keep reminding him of these 2 sets and he did say that if he didn't use them by the end of 2009 they could go... but no, he won't part with them! So I got him this set as yet another reminder, and I might print out a 'promise' to buy him a golf lesson. If nothing comes of it, I've only spent £1!

I paid for this out of money leftover from 2009, so not sure if it still counts as a NSD or not?

Hubby also spent money - but he's not doing this challenge with me. He needed fuel for the car, and bought some eggs and vegetables that we needed. Think he spent about £5, but he's paid for it so it's not out of my grocery budget.

I'm in for the rest of the day so won't be spending anything else today.

  • Hi everyone,
good to see so many new people on the thread.

Went to Mr. T. yesterday, it was crazy, so busy you would think they were giving the food away free. Anyway spent just over £15 but that included an organic chicken reduced to £7.53.
Don't know if offer is in every store but they also had Dove deoderant reduced to £1 a tin, a saving of about 89p.

Snowed again last night so now have more snow on top of very thick ice and weather forcast is not good for next fortnight. Hope everyone in similar weather circumstances is keeping warm and eating lots of hm soup and other comfort food.

Cleaned fridge the other day and have allocated top shelf to left overs, opened jars etc, in fact any food that should be used up before new food is used. Hopefully this will work and make me more aware of what is near use by date etc, might be more likely to take it for packed lunches or incorporate it into meals.

Off now to use up leftover beans on a piece of toast for my lunch. Every little helps!:rotfl:
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!

Well, my month officially started yesterday - and it was a NSD so that's a good start :)

Popped out for some shopping today - £32.05 on milk, bread, fruit, squash, a load of laundry stuff and some reduced Christmas puddings (not actually had any this year yet).

I now shouldn't need to shop again until next week - let's see if I can do it :D

  • The children and I braved the snow to get toilet rolls....grrrr am really mad with myself as I forgot them on Saturday. It took us 1hour there and back on the children are shattered. I did feel a little guilty about the trek, but there was no-way I'm digging the car out garage. Total spend today £3-09 which included a little sweet for the children. Total for month £97-49
