If NSD means 'no spend day' then having started this yesterday, I have had two consecutive NSDs and feeling good!
Doubt it will last though!

I've updated the list quite a lot on what's been 'budgeted' out for this week, I really need to start thinking about next weeks.
I've now run out of porridge and pasta is running low (seems to be a bit of a staple at the moment!!), so that can go on the shopping list if necessary.
This weeks is currently going really really well, and all the meals seem to be well received. For the veggy meals, I'm still living off of the pasta made on Saturday night, and keep mixing it up with all the various other veggy's that are left over's.
In a totally new trend, today we had absolutely no left-overs for the birds. Also, our rubbish has decreased dramatically???? Perhaps because we're not using up so many pre-packaged things??0 -
Hi OS board
Have venture here a couple of times before, but now very determined.
OH and I are running our own food budget for practice when we can eventually move in together. We have £45 per week, so £195 per month.
Hopefully we can do this, does it seem like an okay amount for two adults? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Hi All.
Congrats to Donk! How lovely xx
Another NSD today :T as it's so cold & we don't need anything. I had bought 3 litre cartons of the semi skimmed milk (uht) before Christmas & slung them in the pantry thinking that they'd be ideal if I ran out of milk over the hols. I forgot about them until this morning when they came in very handy for making porridge for breakfast. I am going to get some more as I mixed the carton with what was left in the ordinary milk container & nobody was any the wiserI have been able to tell a bit in my cups of tea this afternoon but not enough to warrant me treking out in the snow & spending money :rotfl:
Hope that everyone is staying safe & warm in this awful weather.0 -

Also, i would like to try and shop online, but the service charge usually puts me off, but I think I should at least try it. How much do you usually pay, and which supermarket is best 4 a onlie shop please. ...
I'm lucky that I'm retired so I can pick the cheapest slotsbut the service charge isn't too bad when I consider what I would have paid out previously in petrol and car running costs, plus my time. I like the convenience of being able to 'shop' at midnight or 5am or whatever time I choose, plus there's no panic to get to the checkout so I have time to consider whether I really wnat to buy that cake or frozen fish bargain or whatever and I really like the fact that I can alter my order right up until the evening before delivery, though I think the actual time varies between stores. I usually have mrT or sainsbugs and very happy with the service I've had from both of them
Donk... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Congrats Donk - fantastic news.:D
A NSD today for me but will have to pop to the shops tomorrow as we need some more milk, fruit & veg, promise to stick to my list.
As dinner last night was Roast Chicken, tonight we are having some HM soup followed by HM chicken pie, potatoes, carrots, peas and sweetcorn. Really looking forward to the soup as the weather is sooooo cold, we're just outside London and according to the Sky weather we are going to get really heavy snow by lunchtime tomorrow.
Cupboards and Freezers well stocked so the weather doesn't worry me. Got some dried peas/beans soaking at the moment and plan to make some more soup tomorrow and use the other half in the Slow Cooker to make a Sausage Casserole concoction.
Hope you are all well and keeping warm in this cold snap.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Oh you are all doing well. I went to Aldi this morning for some packed lunch stuff, and cheese etc., spent £39.93 on foodstuff, and am happy with that, there;s a fair bit in the cupboards/fridge, and got ice cream for my addicted OH and boys. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Right. Total now includes school dinners for 3 children up to and including 22nd Jan (when my Jan GC ends). Luckily DD is 'free' for 5 weeks (Government incentive) from 18th Jan, so that will help with the GC.
That means - fingers crossed - another NSD tomorrow. There's nothing I need to get and the children will be back at school.
Yay!

Hi there
I'm following your thread with much interest and well done on your efforts this far. Am less contributory, more lurker-ish usually.
I was in Morrisons today for bread and ended up with 8 packets of Buitoni spaghetti at 50p a pack!! Had it with HM meatballs and it was magic. Got me thinking per this and one of the other threads on cost of stuff. I've priced my tea tonight to cost about 2 quid for the three of us, including garlic bread. I used stale breadcrumbs, old carrots and onions to pad out the mince and I've 3 portions left.
I love it when MSE gets under my skin like this. Good luckGrocery Challenge M: £450/£425.08 A: £400/£.May -£400/£361 June £380/£230 (pages 18 & 27 explain)0 -
Another NSD today - 3 in a row for me! I feel good about that
We have to go shopping for a few minimal bits and pieces tomorrow night, but I feel so good that I am determined to stick to the list and not buy loads of offers at Morries
Tonight's tea is leftover chilli mixed with pasta and topped with grated cheese, baked til bubbling hot - mmm. I love the amount of great recipes on this thread! On a personal note, I've not had a can of fizzy pop all dayI'm sat here with a hot cuppa. Yay!
Have a nice evening, everyone.
