Thought I was doing well, but had to buy cat food to-day....means I have enough for most of February as well, but means that I have now spent €138.60 so only €11.40 left to end of month....hope to make it but seems very little

  • Have spent £11.40 over the weekend - some of that was on baking stuff to make penguin cupcakes for my workmate's birthday - they looked fab!

Well, I'm past the halfway mark, and for the first time I can remember I'm not about to say something along the lines of 'we've only got £x left, but I should be ok', instead I can say - I'm on target!:j:beer:

£164 spent, £116 left, and 12 days left in the month. Daily budget was £10, so I'm on track to within pennies. I have the last of my menu plan meals on a Mr T order tomorrow, and then I'm left with around £60 for the last week's milk, fruit & veg and the odd top-up - easy! :D

Well, apparently there might be more snow on the way tonight/tomorrow morning . So I did a quick mercy dash to the market to pick up fruit and veg - spent £3.80 which included a big bag of (15) very ripe bananas for 50p :D. I'll make several loaves of banana bread and freeze them. I also managed to get three whole chickens for £7 - which I will cut up and freeze. I spent a further £6 in the 99p store (£5.94 to be precise) on corned beef, biscuits and tuna. Not part of my meal plan for this week but I'm sure that I'll find good use for them. I am still well within my £150 monthly budget, and perhaps I need to reduce my target for next month. I am trying to get into the habit of posting more often on this thread (instead of once or twice a month that I have managed so far). I also need to pay closer attention to the tips on the old-style saver boards. I'm sure there are some great money saving tips there, I just never seem to find the time to seek them out.

I went to Sainsbury's today and spent £13.93 on economy lemonade, hobnobs, pork and vegetarian sausages, bacon, yoghurts, bananas, apples, kiwi and mushrooms.
I also went to a newsagent intending to buy a cheap bottle of water but they didn't have any, so spent £2.05 on coke and blackcurrant. I have just gone and bought myself a new water bottle as the old ones leak, so hopefully less spent on drink.
    Off to update signature.
I don't know if you buy water regularly but if you do you would save a lot of money with a water jug and filter. Quoted as approx 4p per litre or less. Personally I just use the tap stuff but I know it isnt to everyones taste. You would soon recover the cost of one of the cheaper jugs-especially if you can find one in a sale at the present time.
I only bought petrol for one of the cars today. That was £31 and will last for a month. I was supposed to do some shopping but Ive put it off until I go to work tomorrow-didnt want yet another trip out. Now making some bread in the breadmaker as that is what we have run out of. It will enable us to manage for lunch tomorrow rather than go th Greggs I hope. I was refunding DS for any trips to Greggs when he didnt take packed lunch but Ive now stopped this-if he wants Greggs its a "treat" otherwise he can either take a meal from the freezer or I do sarnies(I know-he should do them really-he is 20). Another lot of petrol to get later in the week unless I manage until next week. Its going to be a close thing this month I think as Ive now got £116 to last until end of the month. DH also needs a new shaver and a kettle for his mum(a value one)so that will be another £40 leaving me £76 for the next 12 days. I think I may go over-into next months budget-or I may decide that some of this can be excluded but I want to try an all inclusive budget really and keep to my £500 per month. Next month is service and MOT so it won't be any easier. I do like a challenge though so-I'm going for it!!!
Just rifles through freezer and cooking hashbrowns chips and wedges to use up the bits! Preparing spag bog for tomorrow as this is where we can fail-lack of planning, so while tongights tea is cooking Im preparing tomorrows tea as Im working until 5pm and when I get home I really won't want to think about cooking tea-I never do!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

Evening all. Just catching up waiting for OH to get back from a meeting in London. We have shepherd's pie tonight - I managed to make two little ones with the leftover lamb from the weekend and one is in the freezer. That's 9 meals in total from one small joint - about 77p per portion for meat.

I have also made another batch of soup for lunches- just an old parsnip, a carrot, half an onion and half a head of broccoli with a handful of lentils and about a pint of water. Did this in my pressure cooker so very quick and easy.

Third NSD in a row for me and am looking to see if I can wait till Friday to do my main shop this week instead of Thursday. Have a spag bol out of the freezer for tomorrow's dinner and some chicken pieces for Thurs. I might make a casserole with this as I will be late home on Thurs from work. Hm, just remembered that I have used up all the onions -might have to have a rethink if I am to avoid the shops till Friday!

Have a good evening every one.

Planning to see what the walnuts are like a neighbour left round by gate at xmas after her walnut tree suffered from the high winds we had. I fancy making some date and walnut scones off the thread here.:j
Has any one seen the macmillan fund Book of little treats?:D it only costs £3.00 and the recipies are so good and easy. I made some shortbread today (easier than normall no rolling or anything) and I also made the boiled fruit cake today too. Think I have made most things in it. Would post the recipies up but would rather people brought it as it is in agood cause, and cheap to buy and so useful.

  • Evening all,

Had a couple of trips to the shops in last couple of days, but went Mr S today as they have their 1/3 of baby stuff event, i never go Mr S as its situated in an awkward place and i dont like the drive, but took my pregnant friend too for some bits she still needs. Spent nearly £23 on baby bits, two gammon shanks, whoopsie vine toms, and chicken drumsticks, then another nearly £4 in the cafe for lunch for me as a treat and to catch up with my friend. Baby munched her way through a sausage roll from the hot food bit-well most of it went on the floor and the high chair!

Last night spent £8.23 in Mr T after a LONG 14 hr shift at work, got some wine, fromage frais for dd, whoopsied organic carrots (9p :j) and milk.

I dont include the shop in Mr S in my total cos it didnt come from my grocery account and is a one off thing i do every few months for her bath stuff, wipes and nappies etc when they have their offer on. Last night Mr T shop is included so will go update sig.

I have two long days in work now tommorow and thurs then off for 5 days, so wont be going in shops for a bit now, plus very little money till am hopefully paid on Tues from my new job.

Oh, dh has just come back from Mr A with baby teething gel, ibuprofen and WD40:confused: and apparently it was 'about three quidish'. One word for him-receipts!

    Good night all
