Why not pick something simple to start with - it could be a group thing for those that are new and then the more experienced could give some guidance.0

is it crafts/soft furnishings you want to stick with?
do you prefer practical or frivolous makes?

Thanks Flea - I'm having a go at lots of different things at the mo - practical stuff like tote bags, cushion covers and blinds as well as fun stuff like sock monkeys (and Love Gloves - like the one below)This is Marvin - *cooey!*
I guess practical would be more sensible though! Any suggestions? Thanks hun x0 -
zombiecazz I love your napkins especially the mushrooms. Wow they are brilliant. did you follow a pattern or sew them freehand?
This isn't exactly sewing but I mentioned I was making a denim rag bag and Hart44 asked to see pics. It's not totally finished yet but I've done enough to give you an idea of what it's going to look like. If you're interested I've posted a pic on my blog.
PepPop this is brilliant! Looks really chic and expensive :T:T0 -

I agree. Its fab!! do you just weave sections then stitch them together? Im totally clueless but have loads of old denims in the house and would love to know how to make one of these!!
EDIT: ignore the question about how to make, missed your linky from a previous post. Found it now, thanks!:smileyhea0 -

and I love it, its just perfect for making bits.
Thank you hun - this looks ideal - I'll send my friend the link and hope she gets the hint0 -
Way hay, I have finally reached the end, after a few days! I make sock monkeys and loads of things with my sewing machine, today was a cover for a hot water bottle from some spare fleece fabric. Then my daughter came in from school, her friend had given her a gogo, and wanted something back, so I made a bag and my daughter used the computer to print her name and a cool picture of a rabbit on some computer transfer paper. So her friend gets a really cool bag and my daughter gets a go go, not quite a fair swap, but we had fun!:rotfl:0

Trouble is I seem to want to buy everything I see on there too....oh well!;)
Really really lovely. Good luck with your folksy shop. Your photos are also very good, they have the 'right' feel to them, so that should help with the marketing. Bravo!
i might just have to make some hanging birdies to go with my Hoot. Thanks for the inspiration!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. Your makes are lovely, your birdie quote made me smile, my mum has a big metal sign in her front passage"Friends always welcome, family by appointment"
Kandipandi, I love your mum's sentiment more than I should do!rosepink1984 wrote: »
23rdspiral sorry about your nan23rdspiral so sorry to hear about your nan. Hopefull spending time on here and making things are taking your mind off things. Hugs
Thanks everyone for the support. Nan getting more ill and then loosing her made xmas/newyear a really a hard time. We were only able to bury her at the end of jan, the day before my birthday. oh well. She was 97 so she had a good innings.
MSE has helped quite a lot, - distractions without feeling guilty have been hard to find otherwise.
My nan gave me an old blue/white striped sheet a few years ago, which i've turned into my kitchen curtains, and also the backing for my new weighted & sharpening pin cushion... it's nice to think of her still helping me out even todayRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. I've been busy making new items for my Etsy shop. Here is a penguin I made from a recycled jumper of mine, his name is "Arthur". He sold straight away though and is on his way to California as we speak. It made me laugh the thought of a penguin in sunny California:D0
