Made this today my 'fudge it & see bag'. The patterned fabric was a
cushion cover I bought from Ikea last year in the sale the red was a new tablecloth.

They're gorgeous, loving the bags :T:T:T

Well after I had said goodnight to the BF on the phone, around 10pm I decided to just have a start on the little hat, with my alterations to it. It took me just over an hour to do. However the iron on interfacing didnt stick,! which was annoying. Just bought that as well. Then becuase of that it was a bit more difficult to get the top of the hat into the rim, and i ended up with a few gathers. But it does have more structure with being completely self lined and apart from my label makes it completely reversible. I suppose i could have chosen a plain fabric and could have lined it with that and had two hats. Oh well we live and learn and thats what its all about.
I will see about trying it on DGD's teddy and photographing it later. Off to see my precious boys again today. May sneak a quick visit to the new baby as well. We will see.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Genie I love your kindle case and the bags are really pretty!

Have fun with the kids mooloo :)

I am going with my grandma to get stuff for decorating again today but she also wants to go look at curtains so I may just have to have a peek myself and see if there is anything I can hack to pieces :D

Genie I really like your bags, the second one looks so expensive, well done on making them so well.

I have been getting the hand quilting done on my Dad's quilt, just two more squares to do and it will be done. I have loads of scraps left over to sew together to make the binding.

I have started machine quilting the other quilt I made but I am not very impressed with it at the moment. I bought some varigated machien embroidery threads to use and wound a bobbin full of the same thread but it kept snapping on the top half way through a line. I have done an abstract pattern so not to bad but still not that happy with it. It doesnt look too bad on the top but the bottom looks a bit messy, I used a plain fabric on the back and it shows up and some of the stitching went a bit loopy when the thread broke on top so will have to see what it is like when its finished and see if I can make it look a bit better.

Thank everyone for the thumbs up with my makes people want me to sell some, but a) Wouldn't know how much to charge and b) wouldn't think they were good enough and afraid that they might go wrong.

Mooloo love the little outfit soo cute.

Just popped in to say hello, haven't been able to do any sewing for ages (been stripping, staining and varnishing my stairs) but am doing another sock monkey :D

Loving everyone's makes, Genie I love the applique, did you just free-hand the design? I want to do something silimar for my phone.

I think the main thing thats holding me back from sewing is not having anywhere for my machine, I have to unpack it from under the stairs and then pack it all away again afterwards, which is Ok when I have a good few hours to spare but no good if I just want to jump on the machine for an hour in the evening. I'm trying to pursuade other half to let me have some space in his hobby room (the loft) cos he's not been using it for a while...now he's suddenly developed a desire to start using it again...typical :rotfl:

hi, i've been having a read thru this thread, and just wondered if i can pick your brains?

i'm making a padded throw to go over the sofa........its made of one big piece of thickish fabric, then sheet of 4oz wadding, then the backing fabric

i've managed to stitch all the layers together around the edges on the machine, so now i have a massive thick throw....but i cant for the life of me get the bloomin thing thru the machine to stitch loads of squares all over it, you know, to make it look quilted

does anyone have any ideas what i can do, cos at the moment it just looks like a blanket!! and i really want it to look quilted!

    thanks xx

As painful as it sounds, hand quilt?
Or pay someone to do it on a long arm is the only other thing I can think of.
