Some of the cheaper mats can take time to heal but if you wipe a lightly dampened cloth over it after you finish your work it helps get the bits of fluff out of the grooves. I find it keeps mine ready for next time then
MoolooDGD outfit is beautiful :T I love it

Midge; Well done on selling your quilts. They look so nice.
Mooloo: Your little dress set is very pretty, no wonder gd wants to keep it on!
Irishgirl; Your musical dress is superb....if only I was younger I would buy it!

Some lovely makes everyone. Love the little outfit mooloo. Loving the bags and applique. I think that there are some superb fabrics around, sometimes it's all about having the nerve to just go for a wild and wacky colour isn't it?
I have made up the week 2 quilt block now. It still isn't quite 12.5" around but it's much closer. I found I had to really streeeeeeeetch some of the bits to try and get it to meet up. I think that a lot of my issues were not with not having a 1/4 inch seam, rather not being able to press it out to 1/4" effectively. I am closer to resolving this issue now as I'm pressing from the back and then flipping over and really taking time to make sure that all of the fabric is opened right up along the seam. I know I'm not explaining myself very well so I hope you can get my drift?
Anyway, onto pics!
I think that this is a much more manly colour and DH likes it. It is very bold but I like that for this quilt block. When the green fabric arrived from ebay I though "Ew, I don't know what I'm going to do with that. It'll never go!" Having spent the time colour coordinating the fabrics the other week, I'm happy with the colour matches and seeing this block made up, I know to be less wary of how it'll look when the block is done because it'll all tone itself down (IYSWIM?).
Am going to try and get block number 3 cut out tonight. Am finding the acrylic squares a godsend when I need a set size because the measuring of the other squares does take an awful lot of time and fiddling.
Hope you all like it.
@ hart, how did you get on, did you say you were going to try and get some more cut out today?
@ ailsb, how are you going along with this? I know you were going to get started but I forget how far you got (awful memory, sorry).
Has anyone started their setting blocks yet? I'm still undecided what to make mine from. I could go for 2 colours or just make them up like other quilt blocks all in different colours. I hope to find some cheaper fabric to make up these bits with but I think I might just wait and see how all of the blocks look before I decide on setting blocks.

I think I'm going to take the time to make up a paper shape for the size squares/triangles I need. The kids have a protractor (somewhere) and we have lots of paper. This will save me masses of time (I hope!) and I should be able to get done far quicker. It's the cutting which is taking me so long at the moment.
