    Hi guys,

I am way behind on here i haven't chance to cvome on for weeks so have lots to ctach up on and lots of pics to put on. I'll get round to that but first i am after some advice please. I am losing the will to live with my sewing machine!!. It is a Brother BC-2100 computerised machine and i have had it 5 months. It has just started skipping random topstiches. It will sew a fair amount of stitches and then for no reason (i'm sure thereis one i just don't know what it is!) it will skip a stitch or sometimes a few then carry on normally. When i say skip the needle is performing the movement correctly (so not jumping)but the thread isn't leaving the stitch in the fabric if that makes sense!!. I have tried reloading thread and bobins changing thread and bobbin, turning machine off changing fabric and changing the needle and i still can't sort it. I am in the middle of something so don't want to have to send it off to Brother evenb though it is still quite new. Please please please can anyone help

    Thanks....

Have you cleaned out the lint from around the bobbin, quite a bit can build up when you are sewing lots and it can make the stitching skip. Also have a clean under the feed dog (the little teeth that feed the fabric through under the needle) and a little bit of machine oil around the moving parts can help (please check you machine manual before doing this!), make sure you sew on some scrap fabric to soak up any excess.

If you look in your manual it may have a maintenance guide for cleaning and oiling.

    Cheers

    Sarah:D

I posted on facebook earlier about having mad more cushions and someone replied that I have too much time on my hands. I have the same amount of time as anyone else does :( it's just that I chose to spend 2 hours making pretty cushions :) instead of watching Jeremy Kyle or such like!

Ah Kaz I know how you feel! Theres nothing wrong with you priortizing and spending your time doing something you enjoy same for them if they enjoy watching jeremy kyle then thats their choice. Time does seem to slip away from you when you are watching telly though, I can spend a couple of hours watching telly not even noticing how much time has passed and how little I have done.

When I posted a bag I'd made, one of my friends commented that I'd soon be sitting in a rocking chair with a crochet shawl round me and joining the WI ;)

Kaz, Im sure they are just jealous!
Tina, sounds like tension issue to me. If you have only had it for 5 months though you should be able to contact them and they will talk you through troubleshooting steps to fix it. Most Brothers have a 2 year warranty. (p.s did you get my PM? Its not in my sent items so not sure if it went or not. x)

Lovely projects everyone. I cant keep up these days!

Went to the fabric shop yesterday evening, was packed in there, you could hardly walk around. Picked out 4 fat quarters I need for my Dad's quilt then found another fabric that would go with it so got the woman to cut me 1 and half metres, then went down in the basement and found a lot of fabrics down there been reduced to £5 a metre, was a bit gutted lol, had one down there I could have got instead. Still never mind, I found a pack of fabric scraps down there, weighs half a pound and some lovely fabrics included in it. Got to till and my lovely SIL said her and my brother were paying for my birthday treat so came out a happy bunny with big bag of goodies.

I went and bought some fabric earlier. I ended up spending £13.48 on 2m fabric and a roll of thread. Very expensive! I have bid on some fabric on ebay. Don't know what I'm going to do, I might consider buying some poly cotton for quilts, it's so expensive otherwise! I couldn't believe it but the moda jelly rolls are actually better value for money than any of the other jelly rolls on thebay!

I live near a town that has a market every week and there was someone on there, mostly selling wool, but she had some jelly rolls on the stall. It was a brand I'd never heard of but it was more expensive than the RRP for a Moda jelly roll!!!

I managed to get a Moda jelly roll for £20 last week from a small fabric shop in a nearby town. It has lots of cats and dogs (it's called basic grey/max & whiskers), a bit of fun and can't wait to use it.

Really pleased, didn't see any that I liked at the NEC show a couple of weeks ago. Also got 6 fat quarters of some lovely Celtic material. I have a friend who would love something made from some of it...just now sure what. Have to decide quickly....her birthday is the 28th of April!! I am thinking of a small bag, like one for make-up or tissues.

At the moment I am playing with some tea-towels I got at Dun3lm M!ll. Will post piccies when I am done...my first ever patchwork!

Wonderful makes everyone, I really must have a go at making some bags. Need to work out if I can actually make things and sell them at a profit...need to find some way of bringing in the pennies, and pretty soon. Where I work is closing at the end of July, we were only told on Monday, and it came as quite a shock...still reeling atm.

Have a great day all, won't get much done today, got a tooth removerd thios morning, and the numbness has worn off pretty much now...soooo sore!!!!
