I love the baby tights Mooloo :T what a lovely idea :D

Thankyou. (The pattern came from a madebyrae.blogspot.com.) I just had a look at it again. (not the site, the pattern I had printed.).
I had to make another pair for DGD's dolly!:D Mind you I could get hooked making them, they are fun. so small that they will use up small pieces of stretch fabrics. Need to be as fine as possible though. I was just using up the first piece of fabric I could lay my hands on.!

Been copying the pattern for childs dress from the latest SEW magazine. But not sure what fabric I will make it in. I do have a small sprig cotton fabric from Cath Kidston. It may have to be that!.

Time to get dinner on. The day has just flown by!

Someone mentioned a magazine last night but didn't mention 99p, very MSE! Might purchase that, what was it called, was it a part weekly thing or a one off? I know there are loads of knitting mags in the shop and as I said I don't think I'm going to become a major knitter but I wouldn't mind actually making something useful!

Its a continuous one that comes out every week but the usual where the first edition is 99p. (probably the next ones will be £5.99 though. Im going to get it too. It comes with needles and wool etc which cost much more than 99p in the first place! I cant remember what its called but pretty sure if you go to a WH smith or somewhere you will find it. Ill have a look in Asda tomorrow and post again if I find it.

    Mooloo they are fab!

Hart, your purses are going to go down a treat at your craft stall.

Disposessed - You should either post on the wedding thread or in the regional thread for where you live and might get some responses over there too.

Hart - gorgeous purses, well done, they look really expensive.

Mooloo well done on the baby tights, very cute.

I made a start on Grandson's hoody today. I am a bit annoyed with my self as cut it all out (I thought) carefully so that the checks match on the two fronts, but forgot all about matching the pockets that are sewn onto the front. Wasn't until I had sewn them on that I saw they didn;t match. And as someone pointed out the other day you can;t unpick sewn fleece so had to leave it like it is. I don't think grandson will be that bothered lol he is only 9 but I am kicking myself about it.

I have got the zip sewn into the front with the lining on the back. Have done the shoulder seams and have the sleeves pinned ready to sew on tomorrow then I can sew up the side seams and attach the hood.

I had some more fabric arrived today from Ebay for my other sister's quilt, should have enough to do it now, have cut out half the squares, just need to cut out the ones from the new fabric then that can be started on too.

Had a look at the piece of fabric I bought to make myself a top (the knitted fabric) and its a really big piece. I was only going to make a t-shirt kind of top out of it similar to some I have from New Look. Will have loads left over after so will have to have a think what to make out of it.

Got some more sewing machine needles today from Ebay too, got some ball point ones for the above and some denim ones for when I start the denim raggy quilts. Lots to keep me busy lol.

I finally plucked up the courage to try my sewing machine today - yay me! Only thinkg is, the stitches seem to be smaller/tighter on the top than they are underneath. I've changed the tension two notches, but it's not made any difference. Is it something different that I need to do?

Sounds like a tension or thread problem. My tension always sits around 4 on the dial. Make sure you are using a good thread. If its a cheap one they can stretch too much. Also, take your bobbin out to check its wound properly and put it back in again.

Cheap thread might be the problem; I'll try that - thanks.

I'm currently googling about the three threads that sometimes come out of the bottom bobbin as well ;) That seems to be a dirty bobbin, which I'll have a look at tonight.

I downloaded a pdf file ages ago, and had it stored on the computer. But I didnt keep the instructions, they were obvious how to make.
I am terrible for surfing the net and downloading then not making anything!.

I do the same. I have a file in my bookcaser that is projects to do. About once a year I go through it and clear out the ones I know I will never do :rotfl:

  • Morning everyone,
I did start my bag yesterday, thank you again Onewom your instructions were fantastic. I've got them printed and stuck on the wall. I've cut out all my fabric with the marks either pencilled or tacked and I've pinned the pattern to the lining. I daren't start cutting them out as I'm meeting my sister on her lunch break and I may not make it if I get into my sewing....ut at long last I've started it :-)

I have a virus on my laptop

    BE WARNED

Its called Windows Disk Scan and a warning flashes up telling you to defrag as you are short of disc space. The defrag identifies a problem with your hard drive.
It then asks you to do an advanced defrag.
To do that you need to pay for a programme devil.gif
I am so annoyed as it looks very genuine.
Have tried googling for help, but the programme is not in any of the places mentioned, so can't find it to delete it
:oJack of all trades ... Master of none :o
  • HELP!!!!!
I'm making a shirt from cotton lycra fabric and using medium iron-on interfacing on the collar, cuff and facing. Every time I've come to sew the interfacing such as top-stitching I keep getting skipped stitches. I've replaced my needle for each piece but its not making any difference. I'm currently trying to top stitch the cuff so I want it to be really neat but I'm tearing my hair out. I've had a quick google and will carry on but has anyone had this problem? I've tried everything I can think of, rethreading, new needles, cleaning etc. Its fine on un-interfaced fabric. I've never had this problem before and I've used interfacing loads, the stuff I'm using was already in the cupboard so its not a new batch that might be different.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
