If you are just starting out sewing then I would recommend this seller. Very good prices and fairly good quality. There are others that are higher quality but unless Im making something using extremely expensive fabric (which isnt often!) this does the trick. Make sure you dont use steam in your iron when using it and its a good idea to cut it a bit bigger than your fabric then apply (with a teatowel underneath you ironing board!) then cut off the extra bits. That way you ensure that all your fabric is interfaced.

What sort of stuff are you planning on making? If you are looking to make bags for example I would recommend you get wadding. Feel free to PM me if you need anything. Loads of helpful peeps on here too if you struggling with anything. xx :)
  • Miss Pixie ~ Congratulations on your new machine,:j did you get to choose it?

Ali .B.123 ~ I tend to keep med weight interfacing in as thats what gets used most, I prefer iron on but you should use what suits you best.
I'm sure nobody minds you asking questions, it;s how we have all learnt.:)

meggielo ~ Thanks for the link, going to have a good look at the site in a min.

HMO - Ive just been browsing your blog - lovely makes by the way! Im not sure how to post a comment/question on your blog, so thought id come back here to ask....its regards to your roman blinds, which again are lovely, did you use a kit or buy the bits and bobs yourself? I have made a roman blind, this time last year, but a very basic one, didnt use rods for the folds, just sewed accross each fold, and it works, just bit flimsy. But its only for my computer/sewing room, and was only a temporary measure. I made it from the Ikea one I had in there. It was practically see through, the white ones! So I used all the bits in it, the string and the wood etc. Now, id like to create a much nicer one, and also would love to a nice one for my bathroom.

    Thanks

    hi

thank you i made them all from fabric etc No kits

the lavender ones were a single duvet i bought to match a double for my dd room.

i used blackout lining and made my own rod pockets from left over blackout lining and i bought 9mm wood dowels

the cream blind is curtain weight fabric again blackout lining but on that one i bought proper roman blind tape and rods.

the tape is alot narrower as are the rods only about 4mm from memory.

with the fabric on this one being heavyier i used three cords to pull it up on the lavender ones i only used two, one at each end.

both work fine and give the same results in my opinion but using the thiner rod tape you dont have to sew any plastic rings on as i did with the others as the cord just threads through.

hope that helps i will try and post some links from where i bought the stuff on my blog

Fruit loop - I am absolutely loving all your cushions!! Thinking of making some of these for my nephew as he would love spacemen ones. Where do you get your patches from and have you been stitching them on by hand or using iron on ones and where do you get them? I think they are fab. x

Thank you for the compliment on my cushions:) They are not patches, I used my embroidery machine to embroider straight on to the front panel of the cushion. I could make iron on patches with it though if you cant find any suitable?

Wow!! :T They look so perfect I assumed you had bought them! Do you have a sewing machine and an embroidery machine? I only have a sewing machine and it is a good one but now wondering if I should have bought one that does both!

Nuttywoman - Ive never bought the stuff that you can print on as it seems really expensive (although tempting!). There are loads of tutorials though if you decide to just make your own. It looks pretty simple. Think you just need some temporary adhesive and some normal A4 paper and you can make stuff yourself providing you have an inkjet printer. I have some bookmarked tutorials for this somewhere and if I find them I will post (recently changed my computer). x

Thank you. I was planning on buying one anyway but he saw which one I had been looking at and bought it for me :) It's the Janome 2200XT from sewing machines direct. I can't believe how much stuff came with it free it is very good!

I wanted to play with it last night and get to know it but I was ill yesterday and feel worse today (what a rubbish birthday!) I blame children. I am on placement for uni with a load of 2 and 3 year olds who are all ill so I am picking everything up! Hopefully I will be better tomorrow and I can lock myself away with my gorgeous machine all weekend :)
