Thanks justamum - will have a look at them. Perhaps if I made them in denim or something?
Wish I could do embroidery. Would look good with their initials on.
You could make a cross-stitch one perhaps??

  • I've made a patchwork padded glasses case this morning. When I was making the patchwork I thought it looked good but after sewing it up and you can see less of it, I think it would have been better if I'd used blue or green cotton instead of black to make it show up more.

The pocket is handy (but also because I ran out of buttons).

  • That looks great, genie. The colours are lovely. I love that the pocket is a design feature that you thought of through necessity!

Those makes are brilliant. I love to make things out of old things and recycle them, so the broken picture frame is a great idea.

Loving the patchwork glasses case. Do the glasses slip in the end?

I had a look at the corner bookmark tutorial which looks great. Very similar to my corner bookmarks I mad on my machine but without the satin stiched edge. I might have a go at making the ones in the tutorial actually because the satin stich takes longer than I would like to stitch out. The bookmarks below are left over fabrics, on the left they are mostly Cath Kidston scraps with white felt inside to make them a bit sturdier and backed with leftover curtain lining fabric. I trimmed them with bows to pretty them up a bit. The ones at the bottom are made of upholstery fabric with a layer of beige leftover lace laid over the top and trimmed with the deep red ribbon. I quite like these ones as they have a shabby/old sort of look about them. I've also been wondering what to make a mans bookmark out of. I think denim is a great idea. I would be happy to embroider any initials of a piece of denim for anyone that would like to make their own corner bookmark, just let me know.

My sewing machine is my pride and joy but I must tell you how I came to be able to afford it LOL. It is so ironic you will all laugh!!

After claiming back my bank charges via this site would you believe, back in 2006. I then went on and claimed some friends huge bank charges back for them. I jokingly asked what my cut was....they said £500....so there you have it! I put another £450 to that and 5121027376_b6a97ce83a_m.jpgbrought my embroidery machine:D:T

    Please tell...:D

I always just click on the icon that takes you to the last page of the thread which is good but then still have to search to where i last read.

Yes thats the button I meant (although if you have your page settings as default then it might be more difficult.) I only have 5 posts to a page so its fairly obvious which ones Ive read.

    Loving all the makes everyone.

There's nothing wrong with it at all, I think it's great.

I love those bookmarks meggelio - a great idea for Christmas presents for bookworms!
