sock monkey makers - what size are your monkeys once made up?
I bought some mens socks and they are soooooooooo stretchy! I think i have given up the will to live trying to stuff it lol! I thought it would turn out a similar size to the sock I started with but it must be 4X the size lol!0 -
I just bought an overlocker!!!!!!!!!
Well actually OH bought it for my birthday next week but of course there was no way he was going to pick one out so I did some research, chatted the man in the shop and bought a Brother 3040D from the local sewing shop! He'll have one in later this week and I can't wait, just said to OH 'How sad am I that I'm excited about a sewing machine!' He rolled his eyes! But I know you guys understand.... don't you?!
Now what can I overlock...........?0 -

You do get some socks that are very stretchy, but you don't have to stuff them 'hard' as in very full.
Sometimes skinnier monkeys look quite good IMHO.
Just one more thing to think about before buying socks I think
I have some that are so thin that the stuffing shows through, so check that tooJack of all trades ... Master of none

You can use any size that your happy with. I've used teeny tiny baby socks (fiddly but come out cute). There is a huge 6 footer on ebay (rockford socks) for over £100 I would have to shift hubs out if I got one that large.....no room for both :rotfl:0 -
I've been inspired by all your makes, so this weekend I made myself a bag. The outside is a skirt which someone gave me, and the binding round the edge is from another skirt which was given to me. The lining is an old curtain lining which someone else gave me. The only things I had to buy were the cord for inside the binding and the magnetic closure. I already had the interfacing and the wadding.
My eldest dd likes it so much I've given it to her :rotfl: I'm going to make myself another one from my stash. I might make the handles a bit longer too this time.0
