I made this yesterday as a Christmas present for MIL. It's a scrap bag holder so a bin for threads and also has a pin cushion and magnet for needles. She sews a lot so hopefully it'll be useful.

Love this idea - did you follow a tutorial?
Exactly what I need when I'm sewing.

think i may need to ask the wish fairy for your model then :rotfl:if he tested it and it works on all those materials and for quilting then it's a goer in my book :j keep us updated though as it would be interesting to hear what you think of using it also hunny x

Have sewn a chenille sock to make a sock monkey tonight. Took about 6 minutes and was sooooooooooo easy.
Really stretchy loopy material and no problem at all.

Plan to try fleece, which is notoriously difficult to sew, and also make curtains - sewing on tape will mean going through 3 thicknesses of fabric and 2 thicknesses of tape in places, so a good test.:)

Have also tried out all the different stitches - brilliant ;)
Just need to read up on blind hems etc to use them.:p

  • Pooky, your curtains look great. I love how you've used the different sized ginghams.
  • Sorry if this seems silly but what is the difference between an 'overlocker' and a 'sewing machine' i hadn't heard of an overlocker until 3 weeks ago :o

An overlocker finishes ends and seams off and has a blade that slices off the excess material (thats the non technical explanation!)

I love minky too, that listing is just for fleece though. Minky is also sold as Velboa and the cheapest I have found is here .
