I most definitely will not be doing wood work. I have difficulty using a saw let alone anything else. The OH is quite keen on woodwork but he has plenty of jobs on his list to do at the moment so don't really want to divert him off into making baskets.

My order arrived from Plumb today. Most of the fabric is nice although very thick more upholstery fabric than anything but I'm sure I'll find good use for it. I didn't buy too much just 2 metres each of 4 different fabrics. Would look nice to cover baskets actually.

Just a thought about the baskets. You could construct a box frame using pine stripwood with a ply base but open sides. Then make a simple tie or velcro on fabric shell to cover it. That should be cheap, quick and easy. Maybe use hessian to give the basket sort of effect.

Have done a sketch as it's hard to describe! I think sewing the sides up might be better actually with the tops attached with a strip of velcro, so you can slip it off to pop in the wash.
Will put it on my reserve list of ideas as I don't want to divert the OH from finishing the hall, it's taken him long enough as it is. Today my mind is on the kitchen I have put MSP on 2 of the doors just so I can see how it looks when painted.

I think I may end up making some, I looked for ages for baskets to fit in our changer unit but gave up. I could do with some to go in DS new wardrobe which is shelved on one side.

Sounds good, be sure to show us. If they're any good maybe I'll be able to commission you to do some for me.

    Need advice again.

Have made cats which I was going to give as Christmas pressies, so made Santa hats and scarves, which can come off after Christmas.
Now I'm having the classic 'nobody wants to receive a home made gift and they'll think I'm a cheapskate' crisis.
Honest opinions please - would you be happy to receive this....
