http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8752491/Trail/searchtext%3ESTORAGE+BASKET.htm 3 for £20 or Dunelm and Ikea have quite a lot in various sizes quite cheap.
I think it sounds like a lot of work making pockets for ply and how would you wash them? I have some fabric mesh boxes from vertbaudet that are stiffened at the base with a thick fabric panel. They're in DS's room now so can't have a look but they are sturdy and can be washed (not that they have been). Will see how they are made and get back to you.
I don't get the Karen/ RBN thing- am I being super slow today?0 -

Really lovely fabric baskets here that you can make. Just dont bother with the patchwork if you arent into that.0 -

I think I will give it a miss.
Shirlgirl, re the fabric baskets.
If you are making your own you can use BUCKRAM, I think thats what its called. The stuff they use to make pelmets and curtain tiebacks. this will stiffen the sides of your fabric baskets.
This months copy of Sew Mag, has a soft storage box to make on page 44. But I think all of those that you have seen etc are smaller then you are intending.
Good luck with finding/making what your after.
The box on the tutorial, is made very much like my bags are made, and apart from the patchwork side of it, they are easy to construct. Well patchwork is not hard, just time consuming. I am not sure I could be bothered with 2" squares. But then it would use up someof the off cuts from my other makes!.mmmm
cut out some orange and black from a blouse and a pair of trousers, ready to make some halloween bunting. Have some Halloween ribbon thats begging to be turned into something!.
Going away again this weekend, so its will not be until Monday now, alas. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Just had a look at the rehab bundles again. With postage it costs £3.75 for roughly a FQ of material. I just don't see the bargain, unless you make lots of little knick nak things there won't be enough fabric to do anything with. I passed on it last time because of this but some people did get some lovely fabrics just not enough to do anything with for me.
Can't believe you're starting on Halloween already Mooloo.0 -
Just a thought about the baskets. You could construct a box frame using pine stripwood with a ply base but open sides. Then make a simple tie or velcro on fabric shell to cover it. That should be cheap, quick and easy. Maybe use hessian to give the basket sort of effect.
Have done a sketch as it's hard to describe! I think sewing the sides up might be better actually with the tops attached with a strip of velcro, so you can slip it off to pop in the wash.0 -

Niether can I really! but I have only 2 market stall days to sell them, so if I want my stall to look upto the minute, I need to have some themed things. I have actually started thinking more seriously about christmas as thats going to be harder when using things that I am recycling.! The blouse I used for the bunting was a charity shop find, and the trousers were given to me by a friend who didnt want them.
But Christimas stuff, I may have to purchase some things to embelish stuff.!! Why did I say I would do a stall at all? Must be mad as a hatter!:DWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
