Georgie - That's gorgeous. What a clever idea about the brooch.
I love those fabrics and am going to spend a wee while browsing and dreaming of what I can do with them! What fabric shop do you go to 'in town' (am I right in thinking you are edinburgh too?)
what's trefle trim? http://www.gagafabrics.co.uk/acatalog/Trims.html
Hi R.Mac,
Just got back and bought loads more stuff(including this oilcloth which Ive been wanting to try sewing with for ages.) I went to Mandors on East Claremont Street first but TBH although they have some nice stuff they didnt have what I wanted so then went to The Cloth Shop which is on Bonnington Road. They have lots of nice fabric. Not sure if you have ever been, but Edinburgh Fabrics on St. Patrick Square (just beside Clerk Street) is brilliant. They have loads and loads of fabrics. They dont stock Amy Butler, Alexander Henry etc but they have lots of nice goodies!! Where you do you normally go?
I think Trefle Trim is just trim thats imported from a Japanese company called Trefle. They have loads of nice linen stuff.:)0 -

Help please-- My daughter is working very hard in a Beauty Salon and her uniform is not provided. The uniforms are SO expensive to buy. I can sew fairly efficiently and have a very old Singer. Has anyone got any links or info for a free pattern ( download etc) for a simple pair of trousers. I would be ever so grateful for any help.
Thanks LindaTry and do a good deed every day.0 -

Been sewing again at the weekend, made some makeup bags from some swatches that were sent to me by a sofa companyand added some bits from my stash:
They are lined with cream cotton and as the fabric is heavy duty I didn't bother with interfacing or wadding at all. They were so easy and quick to make that I could have made loads more but ran out of zips!0 -

You could try something like this using her current trousers as a template. I used it for my pyjama bottoms and it worked fine.
Ive been sewing again today. Made another bag (Im obsessed with bag making ATM). Piccies on my blog.
